Cooking Chicken Shawarma On The Jobsite

We just attempted to make chicken shawarma on the jobsite with a drill and a blow torch to celebrate The New Guy’s birthday.
We seasoned the meat with salt and pepper, cumin, turmeric, paprika, coriander, cayenne, and garlic; then, mixed it all together with olive oil.
I coated both sides of each chicken thigh before placing them on the spit.
I built the spit using lazy Susan hardware and a water heater drip pan.
It felt like I was making some sort of weird 3-dimensional chicken sculpture.
I used a hose clamp to adjust the trigger on the drill, so the chicken turned at just the right speed; then, I hit it with the torch.
The chicken smelled amazing as it was cooking. I squeezed lemon juice over it to keep it moist, and before you know it the outside layer was done.
The way this works is to shave off the outer edges that are roasted, heat it up again, and shave off some more.
Watching The New Guy eat chicken is like watching balsa wood go through wood chipper. You’re best just to stay out of the way.
Now The Old Guy hates parties, but he loves chicken. So, he quit doing trim work to come out and join us.
Everyone chipped in and we got The New Guy a pair of 4 new boots.
