Nothing beats biting into a perfect crispy, crunchy and tender onion ring. Julia Collin Davison shows Bridget Lancaster the secret to a perfect bite by using a mix of onion powder and confectioners’ sugar, and by frying at the precise temperature. Pairing the onion rings with a cool, creamy, jalapeño-spiked sauce takes the flavor to the next level.

1:01 can't believe they pulled that off with a straight face haha 😜
airfryer?
Thank you for saying the amounts when you pour. Aggravating to see recipes adding a small amount of corn starch or sugar.
Fun but you must remove that thin clear skin!
Am I the only one who noticed while frying them it appeared a lot of the batter fell off the onion ring, but when they took them out they were perfect? Hmmm
My spouse hates onions, is there a good potato ring recipe? 🙂 Maybe pickle rings?
Only Americans would add sugar – twice – to a recipe for beer-battered onion rings.
No wonder they are all huge.
sigh
I really want to love ATK, I really do. I love the content, the reviews, the technique tips, the recipes, etc. I can not stand the presenters, especially these two.
I'm sure they are very fine people in real life but their on camera presence just screams "Karen".
I'm not sure if this is a director's influence or what but, after watching a video, I feel like nearly all the presenters on ATK want to speak to my manager.
I'm going to bread and deep fry an apple pie.
Hot fudge on top.
I'M 6' 160 lbs.
Yum.
I can't do beer, not as a beverage, and not in my cooking, either. And yes, I am well aware that there are beers of different flavor intensities and so on. I have used club soda in place of beer before, and it's okay, but something just seems to be lacking when I make that switch. I actually prefer a buttermilk batter for onion rings. Perhaps I'll check out the app and see if you guys have a good recipe for deep fried buttermilk battered onion rings. It's been a long time since I made onion rings. And this jalapeno dipping sauce looks awesome
and Ill see YOU later 👀
I see Bridget and Julia in a video, I click. Seriously, the ladies could boil water and I'd still watch
I buy em on sale frozen…nathans checkers..etc..
Humble request – please make a "fry" centric episode and incorporate this into other fried foods like pickles, potatoes, etc <3
The onions thenselves need to be soaked in milk first. Makes a huge difference in flavor.
??? ATK: Have you attempted this with a switch out to gluten free all purpose? That would be amazing!
You can make different sauces, than the one they used.
Did you use regular big yellow onions or Vidalia onions
I’m making these onion rings but not the dipping sauce. I have a creamy jalapeño sauce I purchased from Natura Market and it’s versatile.
I dip them in ketchup or mustard, or BBQ sauce.
only in america would someone add onion powder to battered onion rings, if you had better food standards the onions would taste good enough on their own
What can you use if you can’t use beer?
Going to have to try this recipe. I LOVE good onion rings !!
Thanks to all folks at Americas test kitchen for so many years of great recipes..
I really like the onion ring recipe the sauce I could do without I am anti ketchup unless it's homemade with wholesome ingredients it has a completely different flavor and texture than commercial ketchup. Maybe that would be a good video to do next. Are you sun-dried tomatoes can whole tomatoes in juice brown sugar and allspice and fresh ground pepper with malt vinegar.
When the thumbnail and description came up on my YouTube feed, I’ve never clicked on play so fast. OMG I love onion rings
lost me at sugar.. the ketchup has enough of it.. i loathe that everyone is putting sugar in their sauces.
