Dirum/diram fiti is a traditional dessert of Hunza and Gilgit Baltistan, It is backed on special occasions like weddings and Nowruz celebration. The recipe for cooking dirum is very simple but the process of sprouting wheat, drying and then grinding it to make flour as final process is very time consuming. We add no sugar to this dessert yet it tastes very sweet. Traditionally it is served with almond oil, walnut oil or melted fresh butter. Here i will show you 2 serving of dirum fiti which you can eat without adding any type of oil. It is the best sprouted wheat bread you would ever eat.
Knead the sprouted wheat flour with plain water.
Dust some flour and rolle the dough to circle shape.
Preheat the pan on medium high heat for about 5 minutes.
Put dirum on the heated pan and lower the heat .
Cook for 5 minutes.
Check if it sticks to the pan. Since this difficult to handle and sticks to the pan and can break while fliping over.make sure it
dosen’t stick
Fliping it over is n easy so use this trick.
cook the other side for another 5 minutes
serve as it is or serve with almond oil, walnut oil or unsalted butter .
