Dollar Tree Salisbury Steak Pasta – $10 One-Pot Meal

Dollar Tree Salisbury Steak Pasta – $10 One-Pot Meal

This is part of my series where I take frozen dinners from the dollar store and try to turn them into a full meal. Today I used three Michelina’s Salisbury steak dinners to make a hearty one-pot pasta dish that fed four, and came in right at $10.

Ingredients (All $1.25 each):
• 3 frozen Salisbury steak dinners – $3.75
• 2 boxes beef pasta dinner kits – $2.50
• 1 jar mushrooms – $1.25
• 1 bag frozen seasoning blend – $1.25
• 1 small container of milk – $1.25

Total: $10.00 exactly

How I made it:

Microwaved the frozen dinners just enough to thaw, then sautéed half the frozen seasoning blend with a drained jar of mushrooms in a little oil.

Added the Salisbury steaks (with gravy) and broke them up into chunks like ground beef. Stirred in the pasta kits, seasoning packets, water, and milk as instructed.

Covered and simmered for 12 minutes, then stirred in the mashed potatoes from the frozen meals at the end to help thicken it up.

You could also serve the pasta over mashed potatoes for a Salisbury-meets-Swedish-meatball vibe—but you’d need extra potatoes to stretch it.

  1. So the sodium count the imitation meet the imitation potatoes not to mention how much does it cost for each and every frozen meal and how much does it cost for each and every box meal you're better off buying a bag of noodles for less than a dollar a pound of ground beef for what $5 you can get a can of frozen vegetables or a bag of frozen vegetables which is less than a dollar a little bit of milk flour a much healthier meal

  2. It never ceases to amaze me what Americans consider edible. Microwave meals, canned stuff, industrially processed junk full of chemical additives. No wonder more and more people are wobbeling around like walking jelly and kids are getting dumb and dumber. Unscrupulous corporations are literally poisoning the population … 😢

  3. Folks, does dollar tree dinner actually reply or acknowledge to your comments?

    Not likely.

She seems to be a homely want to be, lovable Martha Stewart offspring.

    Don’t fall into that trap.

As things fall into place, when one gets hungry, one learns how to survive.

Without the help of a Dollar Tree Princess.

  4. As a 20yr old I’ve very recently had to care for two of my family members who cannot physically take care of themselves, after a long day of doing everything for them I tend to neglect myself. Thank you so very much for making it easier on me, I don’t have much money at all to feed everyone and myself or much time to prepare it but you make it so easy, I’m eternally grateful❤

  5. I like your Stretch the Budget Meals. Years ago I was always stretching the food to feed my large family .There were at least 14 of us all the time every day for years. We also had a large garden every year and an Orchard. And made everything from Scratch. But with all that it didn't mean that I didn't have to Budget.. And now that I'm older I don't do nearly as much from Scratch cooking asI used to. So you're cooking and you're ideas come in very handy for me.I most certainly appreciate your ideas.

  6. I feel like $10 is high for one dinner for a family of four at dollar tree 😅

My local Bravo supermarket has packs of pork and cheap steaks between $3-$5!
Also, at my local flea market, there are random bags of $1 produce that only last maybe 3 days. I’ve purchased small potatoes this way.

Walmart and Publix have $1 baguettes…

You could buy an entire 6 pack of ramen for $1.25 and each person get their own bowl, plus two left over… and you’d still have $8 to work with 👀

  7. I know you can’t get sour cream at dollar tree, but a little bit of sour cream added to that would’ve brought it over the top. I actually like Michaelina’s frozen dinners I think they have a lot of flavor to begin with never tried the Salsberry steak however, I’ll have to give that want to try

  8. I get it, stretching your dollar for meals. However, I have 26 years working in food manufacturing and trust me, everything in that meal is poison with little nutritional value.

Everything shown is highly processed. Example, the flour for the pasta is made from highly processed flour. The flour goes through so many mechanical and chemical changes that it needs to be enriched to replace what was removed. Read the ingredients on food you purchase.

I have worked for top tier food manufacturers and if you knew what I know, then you would stop eating this crap. This is why I left the industry.

  9. Ive been watching you for a long time. You're very creative but you eat a lot of crap I would never eat and I don't trust when you claim these dishes are good. But your dollar store recipes are probably great for lots of people. Best of luck.
