1 1/2 cups chopped yellow onions
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 egg
2 tablespoon water
I box of 17.3oz frozen puff pastry – 2 sheets thawed
Mashed potatoes
3/4 cup diced cheese
1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
1). Preheat oven to 400F
2). Cook beef on a skillet for about 5 minutes. Add in onions, garlic, thyme, crushed red pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of salt and stir for about 7 minutes. Add tomato paste and cream and cook about a minute until cream is evaporated.
3). Melt butter in a microwave and add Worcestershire sauce and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
4). Mix egg and water in a bowl.
5). Rolling pin puff pastry to a 11 inch square on lightly floured cooking sheet. Apply mashed potatoes leaving a 1inch border around the puff pastry. Add beef mixture. Pour butter and Worcestershire sauce over. Add diced cheese. Add egg wash around the border. Cover with remaining sheet. Press down with a fork around the border to blend the sheets together. Cut vents on top. Cook for about 15 minutes to a slight golden brown. Add grated cheddar and back another 4 minutes or until cheese is melted.
6). Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes.
