2 cups flour (240g)
2/3 tsp salt (3 g)

Bread Machine: Add ingredients to bread machine in order listed and choose basic white cycle (about 3 hours). Check your ball of dough a few minutes in to check to be sure all ingredients are incorporated and your dough looks smooth, not too sticky, wet, or dry (see video).

My mother baked alot of bread we never bought bread from a store growing up her favorite was her Amish milk bread we lived by a dairy farm she would get fresh milk every week off the the farmer till they attacked the farmers and told them they were not allowed to sell milk that was not processed properly but sad it made the best bread if your my age or older i am in my 60's you would understand if you had a mother that baked bread
We used to do everything in the bread machine until few weeks back, I thought I’ll try using the dough cycle in the bread machine and then hand shaping and baking it in the oven. I think it makes a difference! I’ve always find the crust of bread machine baked bread a bit too hard… the oven baked ones comes out golden brown and soft. Unless I’m really short of time, I’ll continue to knead via bread machine and bake in the oven. Thanks so much for making this video! I’ve always wondered what’s the difference and you have answered my question. ☺️
You are my new favorite person!! I got my bread machine a week ago and just made my first loaf today. It tasted amazing and toasted beautifully!! Second loaf just came out of the oven and third loaf is proofing in the bread machine 😂. I’m making enough to share with my sister and daughter l-n-law. I can’t wait to try more of your recipes. Do you have a cookbook available by chance??
Tried it on the bread machine and it was awesome! I added about 1/2 a teaspoon of baking powder because my only other previous (non-milk bread) attempt at making bread turned out incredibly dense and for some reason I thought baking powder would make it softer. After adding it, I googled and saw that it's not advisable to add both yeast and baking powder, so I was expecting bad result, but it turned out great despite my attempt at screwing your recipe up. Much softer than my previous attempt, and much tastier too! Replacing sugar with honey was good advice too! Thank you!
Robyn, do you have macro amounts by chance on this delicious bread ?
I made the 1.5 lbs loaf and turned out awesome. It had the perfect consistency, I brushed it with egg wash and my family ate the entire loaf in about an hour 😊. Thanks for the recipe, I didn’t make it in my bread machine but in the joydeem dough maker. Same kind of concept. 😊
I absolutely love all your recipes. I’ve made this milk bread and it was delicious. Thank you so much for sharing your delicious recipes. ❤😊
I made this recipe, (2/11/25) 1.5 lb (i used all purpose flour) loaf this is my first time making or eating milk bread, normally I’ll be baking amish bread (that’s just my preference) although I did had to maybe a cup more of flour since it was to wet, never less it was still delicious!! 🤤 I love both now (milk bread and amish bread) Although i hate cutting into homemade bread since my slices are uneven and lopsided 😅😭 Thank you again Robyn! 🫶🏼🍞
I have a loaf going in my machine as we speak, using dough cycle and 1/3 spelt flour and dry buttermilk powder. My go to sandwhich loaf. Do you use fresh milled flour any more? Haven't seen a video of yours lately with FMF, so just wondering. Thanks for your great video. 😊
Nice recipe! I like the comparisons, and they each have their strengths I think depending on how busy we get. I certainly agree with that! I’m making one of your recipes today, but what a crazy experience I had to begin with and since I’m still in the middle waiting for the dough (I’m doing it in the cast iron today) I think I may email you about this experience! Too funny but I just decided I wouldn’t give up no matter what! I knew after cleaning ovens yesterday I absolutely wanted and needed to do bread. No matter what goes on it’s so satisfying and worth the effort. I enjoy it so much! Have you ever thought a bread making book may be in your future? Just asking, no pressure! 😁 Thanks Robyn! 🍞🥖🩷🥰🇺🇸
Looks good. Thanks for the recipe! Please share a Shokupan (Japanese Milk Bread) recipe if you've tried making one using the bread machine. Would also be great to include some short clips of life on the farm in your outro.
Looks good, Robyn! I like using the dough cycle the best but only when it’s cool enough to turn the oven on. In the middle of summer when it’s 115° outside I let it cook in the bread machine.😊 I have to try this recipe. I need to make a loaf with fresh milled flour first though. It makes my body happy.🥰
The sugar is actually to feed the yeast. Do you have a Pullman pan recipe?
Looks good, dough cycle and baked in the oven is my favorite. I’m working on finding a good recipe for sourdough sandwich bread. So if you have one I would love to have it. Thanks!
Thanks 🙏 😊 will try soon, tomorrow’s bread is a whole wheat flour bread 🍞 🎉
❤❤❤❤good morning, your amazing and beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Agree I like using the dough cycle and using the bread pans just looks nicer thanks for showing us how to shape the dough looking forward to making some of your recipes especially your sour dough bread making can be fun using a bread machine it doesn't have to be complicated.
Thank you for another wonderful recipe, Robyn! I was just watching your other videos, and noticed a new video (20 mins). I’m printing out the recipe right now!! I think this one is also the “Ultimate Sandwich Milk Bread Recipe Video,” (https://youtu.be/g0CEZinNb5w?si=h2Wxl9CWFf90YOPU ) i think? 🤔 which I’ve been eyeing and waiting on the pdf! 🫶🏼🤍
I also noticed that you included grams thanks so much again! 🫶🏼🤍
