  1. I made this recipe last night and it was sooooooo delicious! I didn't have the macaroni pasta so used shells instead. I also added chopped pancetta to the onions as they browned. Otherwise, followed the recipe exactly. Thanks.

  2. The Preppy Kitchen , eh? Preppy fits you a modest bit but I can think of other adjectives,🤔. See other commenters recommendation of cooking pasta separately . Henry Hill recommends 2:1 ratio chicken / beef stock, as he likes beef. He uses low salt broth as he adds pancetta or bacon and uses the grandma trick of cheese rind. Sometimes I add a splash of low sodium soy sauce or Worcestershire if not too salty a soup already. I rinse the beans to lessen sodium load. Mash a portion of beans if you want a creamier texture. Skip the tomatoes is another variation , but that can provoke a fist fight at Lexington Federal , according to Henry; maybe also in the Preppy Kitchen? Wow, a lot of subscribers. You must be doing something right.

  3. Time-savers are great, but do we have to encourage laziness by telling people to buy mirepoix at the store? Like, it's chopping three vegetables…are you really THAT strapped for time? No. If you are, you aren't cooking in the first place. Anyways, thanks for this recipe. Maybe my family will it enjoy it tomorrow…NO MEAT Fridays!

  4. Sometimes I i add fresh-cut regular or French green beans and/or spinach or kale 🥬 to this for extra "greenery."

It's one of the easiest soups to make, and another one where you don't have to feel guilty for using cans– just open 'em up and dump 'em in!
