A friend experimented with keeping ripe avocado completely submerged in water in the fridge and found that they'd last a LONG time without turning brown inside. I tried and got the same result.
Kitchen composters are not good. At all. Horrible for the environment, not real compost, etc. ATKs reviews are generally solid, but that's disappointing .
I GASPED when I saw you had paper printouts hiding behind that Macbook. 🙂
I believe the question is about the LOMI composter. It is a small indoor, countertop model that creates compost in 24 hrs. It runs about $500.
Will you or have you already done a video on picking melons? I feel like I'm always just guessing.
buy avocados in the bag. they are squeezed less in the store.
Bought the apple slicer after that video – so worth it as it was cheapish and saves a lot of time. Good stuff, thanks!

I store ripe avocados in the fridge in a Tupperware filled with water. Stops them from going bad. They will last months. Trick I learned on TikTok.
On the composter I think they were talking about those tabletop "composters" what macerate and dehydrate food scraps to then be used as compost. As you may have noticed its not actually compost, it still needs to rot, idk if ir would smell if used on indoor plants, but outside it would be fine. I just imagine it being useful for people that have plants on the patio most appartments have. A worm bin would be a much cheaper alternative though since they dont really smell either.
Here are the "gadgets" you need for fruit preparation in order of importance, utility, and frequency of use:
• Paring knife
/end of list
-=-=-=-=-
Bonus "gadgets":
• Chef's knife
• Zester
• Melon baller
Could I add more? Sure. But virtually everything else will just sit in a drawer (you know that drawer) where you will probably forget it even exists until when the occasional maybe usefulness of it comes up.
Better to just practice mastering the basic / universal tools. Then you will be able to properly handle every food item.
Baking soda soaking also works for getting rid off pesticides. There a paper on that.
Your segments are so informative. Many thanks!
I think the person meant couuntertop composters? Like the ones that compost for you and such
I have always put my Avocado in the fridge once it gets just soft. I've saved alot of $ doing that. Glad you mentioned it people wouldn't believe me.
Some unitaskers are for people with disabilities. It’s all well and good for Alton Brown and everyone to condemn them but also very, very ableist. Besides my coffee maker is a unitasker and I love it very much.
Lisa has the computer open in front of here, yet is reading off a piece of paper…. you don't need the computer as a prop, just use the paper Lisa!

I will be trying the cherry pitter. Never again will I do them one at a time! Thanks
