What were the other brand names??? You never said.
Oxo is the absolute worst. No room for greens. Hated mine – it sent to the thrift store.
Luria is Pelosi's stooge and a hypocrite. Against school choice with vouchers for you but she sends her kids to expensive private schools. She's votes for CRT and for defunding law enforcement. She wants open borders. Voted 99% with Pelosi's hate America agenda.
I wish they'd show the names of the ones, like the crank one, that did not "win".
They love oxo, I hate it. They don't care about water accumulating in areas in their products and causing mold. Case in point, the stem of this salad spinner. The top plate can easily be removed for washing, but water stays in the stem. I washed mine day before yesterday, and I'm still shaking water out of it. I guess I'm just supposed to spray mold all over my salad — mmmm, boy!
I now regret donating my OXO to the thrift store..it was just so big 😔
It’s like Saturday morning? Now that’s really American ha ha! Here in Europe we know what you mean of course, but for us, we cut our grass, lawns and such and wash our cars etc. on Sunday morning. What are Sunday mornings for , after all.
you're my new bff's lol
Zyliss is the best. Testers were wrong on this one. Both Bon Appetit and serious eats agree.
Does anyone know where to buy the silicone gasket that goes on the lid of the also Salad Spinner-stainless steel $59.99 model. Thanks!
I was hoping to see you test the popular Müeller brand model, which seems to win other "best" lists.
Love me some Test Kitchen comparative testing but the thing these nearly ALWAYS leave it out is how the product will wear over time…. I wish there was a better metric for durability in these because that's the been the weak link almost every time that I've made purchase based on these recommendations… They invariably perform *great*, just as ATK says, until they break and then don't perform at all. Not just salad spinners (which is why I'm here viewing today) but for nearly everything product they feature/compare.
OXO does not dry salat well and it does not turn in the axis. Bought it after watching this video, then bought the Zyliss model with the lever. It is much better. However if you let it fall from your countertop it may well brake as mine did.
When you are going to rotate your salad spinner, sit down, and put your arm knee on the table, and hold force on it so it doesn't move by laying down your arm on it, and then hold it.
ATK did not address whether the dang thing can be kept clean (NOT). The OXO's complex spinning mechanism accumulates mildew and is almost impossible to disassemble — or reassemble. Yes, you can soak it in a bleach solution but (a) that's kind of nasty and (b) ATK reviews should take into account the average Jane or Joe who doesn't have a cleanup crew on hand.
I love the test kitchen,I have been watching all the wat back to the early days with Chris Kimball, I really like the reviews of kitchen products. I watch on PBS TV. The only gripe I have is a cook book on cakes ,pies, and deserts. 🙂
I just bought an OXO and I'm very disappointed. It does not dry the lettuce. My old cheap dinosaur no-name crank type that I'm replacing did a much better job. I just wanted something easier to use, at my old age. Returning this to try another brand.
We have a IKEA 5 dollar salad spinner it is great.
My problem with salad spinners is that they take up so much storage space.
Oxo makes a lot of great kitchen tools and ATK recommends a number of them. There is something to be said for a brand that is committed to producing quality products at reasonable prices.
