WINNING TRAITS OF A GOOD HIGH-END BLENDER
– Powerful, durable motor
– Tall, narrow jar to minimize aeration
– Reasonably quiet
– Clear, logical control panel
– Maneuverable base and jar
WHAT WE TESTED
We tested five blenders, priced from $399.95 to $679.95, rating them on their ability to blend smoothies, crush ice, puree hummus, emulsify mayonnaise, grind almond butter, and make ice cream, hot soup, and carrot juice. Throughout testing we evaluated each blender on how easy it was to operate, clean, and maneuver, as well as how loud it was. We weighed and measured each blender’s base and jar, used a tachometer to measure how fast its blades turned, and used a decibel meter to measure how loud its motor was.
RATING CRITERIA
Smoothies: We made smoothies using fresh kale, frozen pineapple, and orange juice in two ways. First, we blended the ingredients for exactly 60 seconds on high in each machine. Next, we followed the instructions each manufacturer provided for making smoothies; we used the “smoothie” button if the machine had one. The best blenders made completely smooth smoothies with minimal air incorporated into the blend.
Hummus: We made one batch of our Restaurant-Style Hummus in each blender; the best blenders required minimal scraping to completely puree the ingredients into a smooth and homogeneous dip.
Crushed Ice: We crushed ice in each blender; the best models quickly turned the ice into fluffy white snow with minimal scraping.
Mayonnaise: We emulsified eggs and oil into mayonnaise using our Quick Food Processor Mayonnaise recipe to evaluate the lower speeds and the opening in each lid designed for adding ingredients while the blender is running; the best models produced smooth, creamy mayonnaise.
Almond Butter: We ground almonds into Almond Butter. The best models were able to produce extremely smooth almond butter with minimal scraping and without overheating.
Frozen Desserts: We made vanilla ice cream in each machine; none of the blenders was able to make acceptable ice cream.
Hot Soup: We made tomato soup in each machine, testing their ability to puree and heat ingredients; the best machine was able to get the soup up to a piping-hot 160 degrees.
Juice: We made carrot juice in each blender by combining carrots and water; all the blenders made similar, slightly pulpy juice that was drinkable but not as good as juice from a dedicated juicer.
Maneuverability: We rated each blender on how easy its jar and lid were to attach and detach and how easy it was to move around.
Ease of Use: We rated each blender on how logical and intuitive its controls were, as well as how easy it was to use and clean.
Noise: Noise is measured in decibels on a scale of zero to 140. We noted how loud the blenders were throughout testing and measured them with a decibel meter, recording a range of 96.1 to 105.7 decibels. Those that stayed under 100 decibels rated highest.

Wow you are so bias in this video ,its a shame you sullied your name for vitamix dollars.
For Me the best one would be:
1. Thermomix
2. Vitamix
3. Hamilton Beach
Just purchased the Vitamix 5200 for $300, Black Friday Amazon special. Black color only at this price. Brand new, not refurbished.
No Wolf blender?
"2800w"
That just isn't real life.
That's fake.
That's a 1000% marketing lie.
Literally nothing can run at 2800w.
American kitchen outlets are 20 amp breakers 120v. That means a MAXIMUM(tripping the breaker) at 2400w.
This was a commercial for vita mix. The Blendtec is way better on every level
i agree Vitamix 100%
Besides it being a well built blender the fact that it's pretty quiet and has variable speed at your finger tips is awesome. Try blending a shake for the gym at 4am with a Blentec, you'll make a lot of enemies.
Love my VITAMIX :))
Ah, but can the Vitamix blend an iPhone?
Just spent $700 on the vitamix 3500 and am returning because my ninja where I flip the container upside down and set it on there did a better job and got a smoother consistency and functioned way faster then the vitamix. I may try out the 5200 because I just like in general the idea of being able to fit more stuff in the jar but this review was spot on the fancy new blenders are not worth it at all
You measured speed, wattage and every other test you can think of, but in the end it was all about your bias opinion, not on the actual facts of said tests claimed. You didn't even mention anything about the Vitamix 750 or the Kitchenaid pro line which are the only top of the line in this setup. In my opinion the 750 is the best one.
You just have to place the lid of the 5200 upside-down and it tucks nicely under the counter.
I like the simple controls on the Vitamix but prefer the Blendtec because their Wildside container (especially the newest one with ridges) doesn't require a tamper to push the food down into the blades which is often the case with the Vitamix . As well, it's shorter to fit under cabinets. It's worth getting the smaller Blendtec Twister container too for making almond butter and grinding flax seeds etc (ALWAYS keep ground flax in the freezer folks!)
Boycott Vitamix – owned by republican racist fascist traitors.
I have that Vitamix blender. I am so happy with it.
Amazon has 5200 right now for $280. Best price I ever saw. So I finally grabbed mine. Not sure how long this price will last
Can you please add the Philips pro blender 6 3D?
Is there any performance difference with the 2 different vitamix containers. The Tall narrow one and the shorter wider one for under counters.
Does the change in shape effect the classic vitamix vortex performance anyone know?
Blendtec is made in the USA and no nasty prop 65 warning. I will take that and it being a little finicky over those other chemical laden blenders.
FALSE! Vitamix smoothies are extremely foamy!

I've had my Vitamix 5200 for over a decade. Still going strong!
I see this video was paid for by Vitamix. This is a horrible review. Thumbs down 👎
Alrighty then. The link to the runner-up Best buy blender takes us to dishwasher cleaner tablets.
I bought my son a Ninja Blender and he loves. Not in your review, but he uses it every day and is really happy he got it.
I believe that, technically speaking, it's not "cavitation", but vortexing. Cavitation involves partial vacuum "bubbles" that would go away on their own if you reduce speed. This is a criticism of the Blendtec machine, not what the presenter said.

i think shes hot looking
Will it make hummus easily without too much liquid added?
Try the new vita mix scent love it
Just ordered the Vitamix 5200 from Amazon prime for $278. Looking forward to it
