I inherited my Mother in law's le creuset oval dutch oven it is old! I can tell nobody told her how to care for it. I really want it to work for me , but after several attempts food sticks at the bottom and gets scorched . Even recipes involving liquids or sauces. Is there a solution for it? Any suggestions?
I use both lodge and cuisinart. Love them both. I am not the type of cook that wants or needs an almost $400 pot. More power to those who have them. What I don’t know, saves me a fortune, I suppose. Ha.
I still like my Lodge enameled cast iron Dutch oven .
Hi, there am in Uganda. I love cooking with cast iron why is it hard to cook n leave food overnight in cast iron,coz I tried I find food having rust though i season properly for that reason I decided not to leave food in it keeps it clean after use
Hmm… consumer reports after their tests rated Cuisinart the worst of the dutch ovens.
Staub — how to easily clean btwn deep grooves of lettering/numbers/inner design dots and lines? Hard to clean all the food smells out of the recess of the raised letterings/liner designs of dots and swirls. 😭😭 Cleaning Le Creuset cover was sooo much easier. Would like advice. Thx!
These prices have increased since this was posted 4-years ago. Bed Bath & Beyond's brand "Our Table" has a great dutch oven for $75.00USD and is usually on sale for $50. Black Friday Sale: They are now going for $37. For that price, if i get a few years out of it, it's more than worth it.
OK, best is relative. If you cannot afford a $300 dutch oven, it is not the best for you. The best is the one that you can afford. Perhaps that means that you use dutch ovens that are not enameled. Then, you earn your way up to a low end enameled cast iron dutch oven. And so forth . . . Just one fixed income woman's opinion.

Every year all these grocery store carries porcelain enamel cast iron just ovens, bracelets skillets small cooking pots come in some beautiful colors blue red off white I think sometimes an orange but they're far cheaper but very great quality without the chipping🤔🙋🏻♀️💯‼️🥰🍁🎃📺📽️ October 4/20-22 I'm not paying $300 for something that's going to chip at Macy's and any other place bed Bath & beyond Walmart Costco's Sam's club 👎🏼😳🤷🏼♀️🤦🏻♀️Alidi do a great job and I like it
I have a lodge cast iron Dutch oven it works great but yes it is a bit more work. You can't store food in a cast iron Dutch oven as it can rust

the heavier the better thick cast iron without enemal they must be bare cast iron, don't argue IAM DUTCH🤫

Not very in-depth. No pros and cons for each one. Didn’t list what brands were tested.
I use a Griswold 1905 Dutch oven. I cook everything in it. Tomato sauces jambalaya gumbo everything in it. I sear my steaks I'm it and right in the oven with the pot and my steaks are awesome. When I wash dishes I ket the pot cool down. Dump any grease in an old coffee can lite soap and water and season the pot with flax seed oil. Stick it in the oven at 400 degrees and turn off the oven. I've got a le crest. It does a nice job on most stuff. But my Griswold cooks everything better. You can keep the fo foo pots. I'll stick with the old cast iron.

I would love one but due to problems with my left arm I could not life them I used to have a cast iron frying pan but got rid because I could not lift it
Dutch ovens aka casseroles are no longer a good buy as their thickness takes ages to heat up and once cooking is finished they retain a huge amount of heat.
Heat = energy = high cost gas or electric.
Get a lightweight quick heating aluminium or stainless steel casserole instead.
My son and DIL purchased a red Le Creuset Dutch Oven for me last year. I just love it and am still learning how to use it correctly. I appreciated this video of comparisons and I personally would not have purchased any other pot. It will be something that will be passed down after I am gone because this pot will last longer than my lifetime.
