We selected 13 multicookers, priced from about $77 to about $250, including our previous winners. We included both 8-quart and 6-quart models because our multicooker recipes work equally well in both sizes. In each model, we pressure- and slow-cooked beef stew and Boston baked beans and made white rice.

This video had so much potential… great host, great info and well produced… but: I’m confused why you’re so vague with which models you’re referring to…I don’t understand the point of criticizing designs or promoting features without disclosing which models have this features. Why make a review video if you don’t disclose the results? And why would a viewer watch anything else you create?
Whoa! I had the best one and I didn't even know it!
Instant Pot® Duo™ Crisp < <<I wonder if she tested it
Which is the second best cooker please can someone tell me
I really love your program it is so helpful in buying kitchen appliance and also recipes. I look here when I am in the market for recipes and appliances.
more instantpot recipe pls
Wrote it down thank you
Thank you for this.
I don't know about the other brands but IP seems to bring out new, updated models almost continuously. Then the older models go on "sale" then on "close-out" then on clearance. Then somebody (probably an employee) gets the floor model for dirt-cheap. One thing I like is to pressure cook meat to almost done, then switch it to the bbq or convection oven to finish it off. Great report by the way.
What about power xl slow cooker does it work
The "Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus" has been discontinued so look for the "Instant Pot Pro". It's pretty much exactly the same but it's black (better-looking, I think). As I type this in August 2022, the 8 qt. is $149 on Amazon so it's similar in price to the 8 qt. EVO in this video at $140.
Also as I type this, Instant just released the Duo Plus v4 (version 4). It's not even available on Amazon yet but you can get it at the Instant official Web site 8 qt. is $129, 6 qt. is $99 (great price) It basically sits in-between the cheapo "Duo" and the "Pro" (which, as i just mentioned, used to be the EVO). So it has the fancy-schmancy digital display with dial of the Pro (EVO) but lacks the pot with handles which is a great feature. NOTE: the new Duo Plus v4 has a gray lid and base which is a unique look.
So, if you must have the EVO in this video, get a Pro which is identical except black in color and similar in price.
Or, check out the new Duo Plus (make sure its V4 or VERSION 4 ) for less money. Very similar but lacks some features…and it's gray.
If you are also considering an Instant Pot with Air Fryer built in, don't…they suck. Not enough space for air frying. Too many moving parts. More difficult to clean. Take the extra $100 you wouldve spent for the "air fryer feature" on an instant pot and use it to buy a $99 Instant Vortex Plus with ClearCook Window on Amazon. If it aint $99 today, put it in your basket and keep checking daily–price fluctuates but keeps going back to $99. Anyway, it has better air frying results, better roasting, etc. and u can fit 2 slices of pizza in the basket unlike the small, round cook area of a multicooker-slash-air fryer.
Nice proect
To the folks ATK, it would be most helpful if you edited this video to include the fact that the recommended model here has been discontinued. Fortunately, another subscriber posted a comment here with the necessary update on information, but it would still be nice to hear it from you.
On a related note, I have two of your cookbooks which are centered around the multi cooker, and yet I find myself wanting much more. You have literally hundreds of recipes for the slow cooker across several cookbooks, so why can't a majority of those recipes be adapted for the multi cooker as well? And yes, I have looked on your website, and there doesn't appear to be much there. Perhaps I need to take a closer look at your cookbook collection and see if there are more books available for the multi-cooker. One thing I would like to learn from you is how to use the instant pot to make fluffy, perfectly cooked White rice. Every time I try to do it in the instant pot, it comes out gummy and clumpy, not separate and fluffy. Washing it helps a little prior to cooking, but not much.
As far as slow cooking is concerned, I have reached the conclusion that there is no acceptable substitute for a regular, old fashioned slow cooker. So far, there is no Appliance on the market that completely replaces a slow cooker, while maintaining the same level of performance as the original.
Bought an instant pot but its the biggest regret of my life. I wish i had returned it
Interesting no mention of the dreaded BURN warning. I love my Instant Pot but the burn warning really does my head in as you never really know when it is going to happen. I often find that even if the bottom is really clean certain things make the burn come on.
Maybe my expectations were wrong but you only mentioned two and what they did. Rest of the cookers there was no information. When you gave examples about cookers you can mention the names so we know which cookers has what. Like two of the models have handles for pot, which two?
I have the Breville one and I really love it! It's easy and hasn't let me down yet. But it's good to know that if/when it goes crazy I'll know where to look 1st!
food is an art form
awesome test! thank you
I can't thank America's Test Kitchen enough for all your wonderful, methodical, and to the point videos. They have been extremely helpful when adding items to our wedding registry. As an engineer, I appreciate all the thought that has gone into the testing of the products. Running TC tests were really the cherry on top! Great work!
I have the instant pot slow cooker and it was so bad we threw it away. Never got hot enough to slow cook. Cooked a roast for 12 hours and it still wasn’t tender. 😭
Good video. Too bad that Instant Pot discontinued their winner, the Duo Evo Plus model. The regular Duo machine (8 qt.) is a solid workhorse in our kitchen and performs great. They now have the Duo Plus and the Duo Pro which adds on the non-spin pot, plus a few probably un-necessary presets like sterilizing, and sous-vide which doesn't work that well anyway. If you want to sous-vide, get a Joule machine which is fantastic.
Damn 18k Reviews with 4.8 Stars on Amazon. That’s exactly the kind of product I look to get when ordering online.
Very thorough review and excellent recommendation! 👌🏾
What ? no chili ? Oh well . I rub the inside of my with oil before putting food in .Helps to clean . I want a 10 quart I make lots of chili and stew. I want room.
Enjoy Sunshine and Please be Vegan, no animal eggs, milk, and honey🥬🥗🌽🥕🥦🥥🥑🍓🍇🍌🍎🍐🍑🥭🍅🥒🍉❤️🌞🌈👼❤️🏖
I just exchanged my instant pot duo plus 8qt. for the Pro 6qt. Imo the 8 qt is way too big for a family of three. And a lot of ppl was telling me the Pro is better.

Thank you for this! How can you put your trust in machines when they won't even cook things properly;
Oh cool I bought the winning pot almost a year ago and I just found this video for its review.
Great informative video. Also, thanks for the update. This really helped me understand what I did and didn't want in a multi cooker. 😀
Love the Crockpot Express! I read the Consumer Report review that put CP to the test against Instant Pot. The CP pressurized faster and cost significantly less. That with the Yogurt function sold me. The only downside is what you pointed out — a nonstick pot rather than stainless steel.
