Full directions, with conversion from metric 😘 (AND alternatives to springform pan, if you don't have one readily available)
Crush a regular size bag of Oreos (36 Oreos) in a food processor or using a ziplock bag and a rolling pin, until completely crushed and blended together.
Mix in a stick (100 grams…) of melted butter 🧈
Remove one third of the mixture for the topping, and press the larger amount into an 8-10 inch springform pan lined with parchment, pressing down firmly with back of a spoon 🥄 or freshly washed hands pressing against plastic to prevent sticking and encourage smoothness.
Whisk 1 3/4 cups (400 mL) COLD "double cream" (British; higher fat content) or can use heavy whipping cream (can add 1-2 Tbs coconut oil to increase fat content…but not necessary).
Mix in 14 broken up Oreo cookies. Broken/cut into roughly quarters.
Pour into springform pan, on top of your buttery chocolate crust. Smooth out the top.
Smooth remaining 1/3 buttery Oreo mix onto the top with the back of a spoon 🥄
Freeze at least 6 hours.
Wrap springform pan with towel soaked in hot water 💦 , to help loosen sides of the pan from the cake.
Slice using a chef's knife 🔪 soaked in hot water, to make cutting easier.
*If you do NOT have a springform pan, could use:
1.) A square 9 x 9 inch pan lined with parchment. Could have parchment up the sides, so you can actually lift it out of the pan and place on a cutting board to cut it into square slices.
Or —
2.) A deep dish pie plate, lined with parchment all the way up the sides. Press the cookie crust all over the base, and up the sides of the pan, to be able to cut and lift out slices more easily once it's frozen.
(Conversely, could use a prepared Oreo crust in an aluminum pie pan; but this one looks a whole lot better 😘).
Ingredients:-
For the base & topping:
36 Oreos

For the filling:
1 tin (397g) condensed milk
