Healthy creamy pasta without cream!

I was inspired by @plantbasedrd to make this pasta and it turned out so good! Using hummus as my substitute for cream, sour cream, and mayo is one of my favorite cooking hacks!! Full recipe and nutritional info will be available on my recipe app (The Kollective), but below are my quick notes. Enjoy!
.
12 ounces orecchiette
1 tbsp EVOO
1 onion, julienned (I used both red and white)
3 cloves garlic, minced
Creole seasoning
salt, pepper
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 to 2 ladles pasta water
2 tbsp hummus
garnish with fresh herbs and toasted sesame seeds

  1. My vegan grandparents always cook for us when we come over. I don't dislike the food, yet it tastes to me that, respectfully, it's lacking something. This however, would be good with homemade hummus, and seems flavorful.

  2. I just made this and might I say I think this was the BEST pasta I’ve literally ever made 10/10. I could probably eat this every day for the rest of my life. Definitely worth a try. I’m not missing the cream because the hummus adds extra flavor.

  3. Yeah you do NOT need cream to make creamy pasta. That's just what a lot of non-Italians were led to believe somehow haha thanks for sharing this, although I don't think I'd have pasta with hummus 😅

  4. Strange, but cool! I can imagine blended chickpeas/tahini/blended creamy things can work perfectly! Makes me think of how pestos function as a concentrate that you blend with pasta water for sauce =)
