This cherry anti-inflammatory smoothie recipe is delicious!
Tart cherries are anti-inflammatory due to their high levels of antioxidants, specifically anthocyanins, which help reduce inflammation in the body. In a randomized, placebo-controlled study, tart cherry juice significantly reduced signs of inflammation that are common in chronic diseases.
To quote the study “Within group analysis showed that the plasma levels of CRP, MDA, and OxLDL decreased numerically by 25%, 3%, and 11%, respectively after 12 weeks of tart cherry juice consumption compared with corresponding baseline values. The present study suggests that the ability of tart cherry juice to reduce systolic BP and LDL cholesterol, in part, may be due to its anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. Larger and longer follow-up studies are needed to confirm these findings.”

I pair the cherries with some healthy fat from the peanut butter, and protein from the protein powder and plain Greek yogurt :). I made it a smoothie bowl, but you can easily make it a smoothie by adding a bit more liquid.
No measurements here, just a little breakfast inspiration! Let me know if you think I should add this recipe to my blog 🙂
