Homemade Naan Recipe

Perfectly soft and chewy, this homemade Naan Bread recipe comes together quickly and easily. All you need are a few simple ingredients to make this buttery flatbread. Traditionally, naan is made in a clay Tandoori oven, but this homemade naan recipe is made in a cast-iron skillet to get that iconic smokey taste and golden brown blister spots.

I’m excited to share some tips from my amazing friend Maneet Chauhan on how to get a great homemade version without a tandoor. She has a wonderful book out called Chaat, which you definitely need to check out!

  1. U can add some garam masala, chillies and a bunch of healthy India vegetables like peas, corn, carrots, potatoes and and substitute the flour/ maida for much healthier stuff like ragi, bajra, corn flour and other Indian millets which r really healthy and very good for digestion as well. If u have mastered regular naan the way u have in the video, the other versions r simply a few substitutions and additions to the mix but the taste is out of the world.

  2. Indian naans r very different to the one su get in Iran and the Middle East in some very fundamental ways. U certainly seem to have understood that which is y ur recipe is close to perfect for Indian breads.
