  1. Buying a new grill or smoker sure has become complicated.

When I buy a grill or smoker I expect it to last me several decades. It will be interesting to see how long these hold up and how long Ninja has spare parts available.

  2. Tom, so glad you have gotten your hands on one of these. I was waiting for an honest review instead of the infomercials that are floating around. I look forward to seeing you give this a thorough workover in coming videos. My comments right now are that, while not super large, it is the same size a "classic" Weber gas grills from 1986 to 2005 and their current larger Spirit grill. Adequate for couples and smaller families at least.

The one big negative that gives me pause is that porcelain coated regular steel firebox – with only a 3-year warranty. Those of us fans of Weber grills know that Weber's top of the line Summit in past years suffered an Achilles heel using this construction, as the firebox was very prone to dangerous rust-through as the porcelain expanded, contracted, and then cracked. Weber finally fixed this on the newest Summit going with much better cast aluminum as they still do on their other gas grills (Genesis and Spirit). While I think this Flex Flame is VERY innovative – LOVE that convection fan – I have a feeling the firebox is going to become an issue on these. Look forward to more solid, honest reviews and interesting cooks!

  3. Got mine from HD. HD model has black lid. Very easy to assemble. Very well built. First cook was a whole chicken. Came out very crispy and juicy. Also made some smoked Queso dip, everyone loved it. Next cook will be some wings.

  4. Ninja wants you to upgrade to the “Flex Flame XL Connect” next year… honestly, with so many wireless probes available (think ninja just released one), ninja probably didn’t think adding probe ports to be necessary. I’ve never used the probes on the woodfire lol

  5. Doesn’t do anything for me buts that’s because I’m a Weber Kettle fan and enjoy the charcoal process. That being said if I lived in an apartment or condo that only allowed gas grills I would seriously consider this.
