You seem very impatient with your father! Snatching the bowls of prepared ingredients to put them into the pot faster than he does. Are you on a time limit? Also you remind your father of other ingredients he would use and you then state "But we aren't going to use them ingredients"… Not sure what is going on with you both. I hope it is a healthy relationship and not a angry one.

Favorite soup?
Chicken noodle,clam chowder,lobster bisque, albondigas,minestrone,won ton,pho,Tom yum,ramen… I've never met a soup I didn't like. I haven't tried the tripe.

I used much more Black Vinegar and White Pepper to bring it closer to the flavor from my favorite Chinese restaurant. Still, a very good recipe.

I’m having a bowl right now. I’m a vegetarian so I used vegetable broth and imitation ham slices, it’s still good no difference. I might have accidentally spilled some sake in, sorry about that. 😉
This may come as a shock to some people, but my favorite soup is hot and sour soup with wontons. The broth that is used for wonton soup is in my opinion very Bland. My personal favorite way to eat wonton soup is to place the wontons from the wonton soup into a bowl of delicious hot and sour soup. Unfortunately, I have to do this at home because I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant here in Eastern Canada that will prepare me such a dish.
I would think a better substitute to hard to find fresh shiitake mushrooms would be dried shiitake mushrooms. They also don’t taste like wood ear fungus.
I really like the way the son is always like, “hey dad, what would you do here?!” and the dad says, “we do this.” And the son replies, “yeah…we’ll we’re gonna do this.”

Man, one third bowl of egg drop soup, two-thirds bowl of the hot and sour, add 2-3 soup wontons, and I'm in seventh heaven, cloud nine.

The white pepper clumps if you add it after the corn starch. Corn starch should be the last thing you add, folks.

My local Chinese take out does excellent hot and sour soup. It now costs 5$ per1 quart. I can tell if someone else made the soup on any visit. I only get their food because of this soup! Thank you for teaching the technique and giving recipe.
