I would also recommend you chemically stop the rust before seasoning. With vinegar. This will neutralize what you left behind. I have also found that thin layers of seasoning is also going to be more rust resistant.
Use a lint free towel, so you dont leave paper towel bits in the coating. Also, use avocado oil; the smoke point is 500f, compared to vegetable oil at 400ish
Well I don’t feel as bad about the few rust spots on mine now 😂 Not trying to hate because I know you said you use it twice a year but how the hell does it get that bad?! I just do a simple scrape off after use and heat it back up and get some Oil spread around before putting up for the night.
Brother put a respirator on when putting rust dust in the air. And put on eye protection when using a wire wheel. Have you ever worn ppe??? Some people have just never been on a job where they can get hurt before I guess.
You can ignore if you want, pretend it’s fine but look up how vegetable oil is made. With Hexane and Bleach for de-fuming and modifying the composition. It’s one of the most toxic foods on earth. It’s not food… Use coconut or olive or avocado or anything else. Don’t just wave it off as nonsense, you’d feed your kids vegetable oil?
No masks 😂😂
I sand blasted mine then burned it
you have no idea what you are doin
What's the difference between these grills and a frying pan? Atleast the pan dont get rusty 😂
Great process brotha.. remember you want to season surfaces like this with an oil that has a high smoke point. Oils like Avacado oil or sunflower oil.
Sad. Not sure how I stumbled on to this. But that’s just lazy. Take care of your gear and it will care for you.

Disrespectful it shouldn’t even get like that 😡😡😡
Heat it up and clean with cold water
Congrats on 100k subs

This sharp little wire in the eye isnt something you want to expierence.
I recommend for you to try lard, it prolongs the oxidation

Don’t use vegetable oil it’s poison. Go for coconut oil olive or avacado
If you heat it and add water and use the drill it works way faster

Great job! it's like cleaning a cast iron pan. 👍🏼
