Made this tonight. It smelled heavenly, but the flavor fell flat for me and my family. It was puzzling. I salted and peppered it, but somewhere it lost the flavor. I think maybe my garlic was not fresh enough (I live in rural Appalachia – sometimes our produce seems pretty weathered by the time it reaches us). My other spices are fresh since I cook highly spiced recipes. Anyone else experience the same thing? How did you fix it?
This is a winner. A great balance of flavours with basic ingredients and so easy to prepare.
I made this twice this week
Would be nice to have the soy and ginger version as well.
I will make this recipe. Sounds like it would go great with quinoa or brown rice. Or maybe a pork chop.
More Lan Lam, please!!!
Coming from someone who generally does not like eggplant, you made this look so appealing. The braising technique and those warm, earthy spices all came together with the herbs and yogurt to create an extremely appetizing looking dish. I will try to make this in the near future!
I like the general idea of this recipe, but that is a preposterous amount of water. We’ve tried it twice and had to reduce at least 15 minutes beyond the stated time.
Does anyone know what brand of pan she's using?
I followed the recipe and that is way too much water. I couldn’t get the braising liquid to reduce enough, even after 45 minutes of gentle boiling uncovered.
I made this and it is horrible
Always love Lan.
Cooked this up tonight, and I was very impressed with how it came out. The mixture of flavor was excellent. Definitely a keeper, as I really like eggplant!
Took me a lot longer than 14-15 mins to reduce. Maybe I didn’t cook it aggressively enough in the first 15 mins.
A little too much of everything
Super cutie! Love this show.
Happy holidays to you and yours
Can't wait to make this! When will you put new recipes out? You keep putting out the same videos/ recipes? Ty!
I made this last night. It was delicious, but too salty for my taste. I’m not a salt sensitive guy. I would cut the salt down to 3/4 of a teaspoon next time.
You would be a great teacher 🙂
more videos with this lady please, she seems really knowledgeable, but also genuine
Very good presenter. I felt like this was crying out for some rice, though. Something to absorb that sauce.
