Nice information
Looks great , mango is my fave fruit
7:39 That sounded dirty.
If you cannot find good mango I think peaches in syrup could be an excellent substitute.
I will no longer be paying 12$ for a tiny portiom of Mango Sticky Rice in nyc anymore !!
Beautiful
Will a rice cooker work for the sticky rice?
ATK used to be about finding ways to make food more approachable, but year after year they introduce recipes like this that make you go out and buy a wok and steamer basket. Can't you just teach us how to use the stuff you've already recommended us stocking our kitchens with for the last 20+ years?
lol
We just pop it into the rice cooker.
I miss the end of the episode recaps… Elle is wonderful btw
❤❤❤عالی
I bet it is fun to work at ATK.
The biggest problem is finding good quality sweet fragrant mangoes from South Asia or South East Asia.
Why yes! This recipe segment did end rather abruptly. The final 60 seconds:
Bridget: Every grain infused with that coconut flavor.
Elle: Yeah, and that little saltiness of that coconut milk topping…
B: Mm-hmm
E: Is the prefect balance of salty and sweet for me.
B: I've been salivating ever since you started cutting up that mango.
E: Mm-hmm
B: Beautifully perfumed. Get a bite of them together.
E: Yeah
B: Mmm! And it still is the case that I can eat a lot of this.
E: Yes.
B: It's light, it's fresh. It's…unexpected. Just like you!
E: Thank you so much!
B: Well, it definitely takes two to mango with this dessert. And it starts by using a steamer basket to cook the rice until nice and chewy.
B: Pour sweetened coconut milk over the cooked rice, finish with a savory coconut sauce over the rice and serve with sweet fresh mango.
B: So, from America's Test Kitchen – the delightful, the delicious Khao Niaow Ma Muang. You can get this recipe and all other recipes from this season along with select episodes and product reviews. Those are all available on our…

Sadly, there is no good mango in the US, because you cant get the same mangoes, or equivalent quality in the US.

What kind of rice should be used?

You must have read my mind. I’ve been wanting a recipe for this 🎉
Glad to see a Thai recipe on here! Only thing I would have added is to tell viewers that Ataulfo mangos were chosen because they are less fibrous than the regular mangos available in American grocery stores.
Beautiful!mmmmmmm
🤮 To Sweet for me..
I use one of those giant commercial coffee filters to line the steamer basket for sticky rice. They're available from restaurant supply stores. Spraying the filter with Pam helps too.
I’ve made this a few times from the recipe at Thai kitchen, and it’s great. I will give this recipe a try for sure. You didn’t mention pandan leaves, probably because they’re not that easy to come by, but I’ve always been super curious about them. Maybe somewhere someday I’ll find some!
I had this for the first time when I went to Thailand. I was HOOKED! I had it 3 times a day!!! IT. WAS. INCREDIBLE!!!
Now I make a semi-acceptable mock version just to satisfy the craving. My problem is that it's really tough to get mangoes here in the
middle-of-nowhere upstate NY..
