Loose the jam
Yum yum! Thank you I just came back to pressure cooking and it was a little nerve racking! With your instruction it was a delight to prepare and to eat. Thank you again
Thats one way to go but not how I do it . I have the old-fashioned pressure cooker hand me down, rattle top. I clean the potatoes , slice them up as is , no peeling . The onion , carrots and potatoes go in on the bottom and the meat on top after browning. Comes out great every time.
Would it not be best to chop up the potatoes small raw put into pot cook all at once save time
Yes, this is the best. So simple!!!
Potatoes should always be seasoned with salt and pepper when boiling. But still do not understand why it was cooked separately to the beef stew.
Also need flavouring not such a good recipe for me but maybe others. Will like it …….
quick release with that much liquid? i would natural release to keep liquid in and tenderise the meat
I have read the comments so mine isn't really necessary but the first thing I thought too was, why not put the potatoes in the pressure cooker? Also, there just aren't enough spices or ingredients in this stew, where are the tomatoes? And way too many potatoes for the amount of other ingredients. And corn starch? Yuch.
Absolutely disgusting. Meat looked rock hard. Stew was watery as fuck. You'd be executed on the spot if you served that in Ireland.
This ain't stew!
Love this pressure cooker!>>>ur2.pl/1035 I made Thai curry with chicken in 30 min and steamed rice in 6! I was a bit apprehensive as this is my first time using anything like this but getting started was pretty simple. It is important to follow instructions and "season" the seal. This would be a great gift for busy moms or really anyone who needs great food, super fast. I got this during prime day but will look for another deal around the holidays.
that is a godawful stew recipe, why didnt you put half the spuds in the pot as they're what thicken the damn sauce!
Fry your meat on olive oil with garlic
Do not peel your potatoes, wash n cut them throw them in
also wash and cut celery and 1/4 head of cabbage in big chunks (The youth veggie)
It should be noted, that if you're using an electric cooker, you do the browning and prep in a pan..and do not remove that insert or you're in for a surprise.
Great and who's gonna add the salt?
How many does this serve?
Cook 'taters with the stew to lock in flavor into the 'taters…..duh.
I think you blew it by adding so many spuds, they are real salt suckers. Beef stew out here in Aussie is all about the beef; the vegs are minor bit players.
We also like our stews thicker. Try adding plain flour to the meat in the first place use only one spud and cut back on the carrot, this will prove much tastier and thicker. The mix will need to be very thick and have salt added at this stage; the vegs cooking will add moisture as she goes; producing a fine real tasty goo of stew.
Im a go to man of stew. Learned from my mom the best of all stewers in Aussie
The meat needs to be salted first BEFORE browning to be seasoned properly, and to get into the meat. Otherwise it just sits on top.
Look forward to trying this recipe! Love my pressure cooker!! Not like my grandma's old fashion pressure cookers…
They're missing out on the dangers of a pressure cooker. I have seen these explode because of faulty production, it's really fun to clean up after they go kablooey.
Thank you for your question. You can add the salt, pepper and any other spices right after you add the meat and the vegetables to the pressure cooker. Then, right before serving the beef stew, taste for seasoning and adjust with salt and pepper as needed. Happy cooking!

That looks and taste bland, no salt or pepper or tomato, then again it's made from Canada, lame it's bland I bet you.
You forgot the tomato sauce, beef stew has tomato sauce,
Please explain when salt and pepper or spices is added
nice to see something on here that I can eat TODAY!!! (most of these recipes are for a crock pot)
at the table I would imagine
Usually when cooking meat the salt is added last, but it doesn't make a difference when cooking with a pressure cooker, the meat is tender either way. I'd add bell peppers to the onions, maybe a little tomato paste for a more flavorfull broth.
No salt and pepper? In what momment do you add them?
