  1. Disneyland has this cake (slices) usually during Pride Month, but often you’ll see it throughout the year.
    Despite going every week, I have not gotten a slice because we usually have dinner, go on a few rides then grab a treat that is easy to take home like a cookie. But I should get a slice of this just to see how it is (may not be as good as their famous churros!).

  2. Love your videos Lan. I always make my birthday cake. I level the layers, make a cream cheese frosting, apply the crumb coat (as neatly as I can). Chill it, then finish with the final layer of frosting. Thats where I really take my time to make it look as neat as I can. I always take my time with the crumb coat and final layer. I may not be a trained culinary chef with a degree. But knowing I can take my time with it is so worth it.

  3. KitchenAid,now, does not recommend using their mixers over speed 2 for more than a few minutes. Why are you all still using them? Seems like you could cause people to burn out their mixers with your recipes.

  4. If you were to cut this cake into 10 slices, each slice would contain more than a full stick of butter.

    Even at 16 slices, you'd be getting 5.5 Tablespoons of butter per slice.

    I know this is a special treat, but that's still insane to me.

  5. Why yes! This recipe segment did end rather abruptly. The final 45 seconds:

    Lan: It's moist, it's fluffy, it's light. Tastes great.
    Julia: Mm-hmm! <laughs> This tastes way better than the cake I made and I have to say, was much more manageable!
    J: Lan, this is amazing! Thank you for showing me how to do this the right way.
    L: Any time!
    J: So if you're ready to put a whole bunch of color into your cake, use egg whites and a reverse creaming method when making the cake layers, use gel food coloring to get vibrant colors and cover the cake with a crumb coat before adding the frosting.
    J: From America's Test Kitchen, a showstopper of a recipe for Rainbow Cake.
    J: That purple layer is so fluffy!
    L: Right?
    J: It's so impressive!
    L: I'm going through a lot of cake!
    <both laugh>
