Salmon & clementine cake 🎂
I thought for a moment I got MasterChef Junior's YouTube channel. 🧐
Actually, I made this recipe when I first viewed it on TV and I'm making it right now. It comes out heavenly with no shrinkage!
My "sauce" for the salmon is soy sauce with gjnger, tumeric, lemon zest, Nature's Seasoning, lemon juice, dash Worcestershire sauce, paprika, and pinch of cornstarch. Zap 10 seconds / stir / 10 stir / 10 stir /10 stir in microwave and pour over filet when it comes out. Garnish with SUPER THIN lemon slices and curled tumeric.
Jasmine rice is favorite bed for this salmon and some sliced cucumbers complete the eye candy and lend a refreshing crunch to balance the sauce, which can be spicy depending on how you balanced it.
😋
BTW: I cut the skin off and fry it separately until it's like potato chips with just a TIDBIT of sesame oil and Mediterranean salt in stainless steel pan. It's scrumptious! Never ever waste it. You will be very surprised at how snackable it is and you can even crumble it on top of salad.
Clearly I am not the only one who was HORRIFIED at the thought of a cake made with salmon and clementines. Syntax matters, ATK! 🤣
The cake looks great, what would you recommend instead of the sugar glaze. I do not like glazes.
What an amazing looking winter cake!
I thought it was a salmon and clementine cake! Who wrote the thumbnail 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Shouldn't we check for seeds after clementines are microwaved
Why don't we see Julia and Bridget together anymore?
Mouthwatering to both.
Cheaters! This is a total steal recipe from Nigella Lawson's "How to Eat" cookbook! Suggest using NL's method of simmering the clementines for 40 minutes on the stove for best results. Sub almond flour for the processor method. It can all be done in the food processor in one step. Your recipes often make things far more difficult than necessary. This cake is ruined with a glaze! It's plenty sweet and fragrant on its own.
Hi I was wondering if I cut the recipe in half and use my smallest springform pan to make the clementine cake. It’s just me and hubby now and we don’t eat a whole cake or pie. Do you have any tips for cooking for just two people? That would make a good show!🥰
A comma goes a long way…
Please make a lemon version of this cake and go easy on the sugar!
That clementine cake would be great in cupcake form.
Clementine cake is killer. Thanks. I found it originally via Nigella Lawson — you boil whole fruit, then whirl in processor. I could not believe how delicious this cake is.
Worst title ever…does anyone have an English degree at ATK?
I've been taught to roast fish at 400 f for ten minutes per inch of thickness. I'm on the fence about trying a new method. It sure looks delicious though.
could you use the syrup you made with the clementines to put in the glaze?
Is it possible to use almond flour instead of almond slices and turning to flour? If so how much?
That’s a huge lemon.
Am I the only one who thought they were going to bake salmon into a cake????
Please, please start using appropriate punctuation in your titles. All this title needs is one comma after salmon to take it from being a recipe made from salmon and clementines to being two recipes one for salmon and the other for a cake made from clementines. And, for the love of my sanity, PLEASE put a comma in "What's Eating Dan?" My only ideas for what's eating him are a crocodile or a flesh eating bacteria. However, if you change the title by adding a comma to "What's eating, Dan?" it makes much more sense.
I had to think about opening this video… did I really want to know? I was thinking maybe the fish oil would be reason?.. then citrus and fish go together, well… I thought maybe a pemmican type dish but then the thumbnail doesn't make sense. LOL then thought 'what the heck!" and finally hit the play button whew! Excellent video
OMG same! I thought we were gonna see her make a salmon AND clementine cake. Thankfully she didn’t lol.
Can't wait to make that Clementine Cake! I've made your Sour Orange Pie recipe and it has become a family must have on our Easter table. I'm sure they will love this recipe too!
On the cake can you use store bought almond flour? And is there an alternative to the powdered sugar frosting? I really really do not like powdered sugar glazes or frosting.
I loved Jack’s demonstration of baking soda and baking powder. I’m 59 and finally understand the difference. Totally understandable the way he presented it.
You missed an important ingredient: the Oxford comma.
Wouldn't the cake have even more clementine flavor if you reduced the sugar in the glaze and used some of the simmering syrup from the clementines being candied?
As great as the cake looks I'd only make it with Organic Clementines. Commercial clementines have large amounts of hormonal disrupting FUNGICIDES on the skins and is absorbed in the fruit. Salmon looks amazing. Thx for the video and recipes. Will save in my library.
Funny enough, I didn't even notice the comma was missing, but knew it was to be two separate recipes as I've seen this show enough to know it's always featuring 2 recipes in each episode.
I join the disappointed comments re: no salmon in cake
When the fat starts oozing from between the flakes, you know.
Cool
Food
Would be nice to see the test kitchen start focusing on making food stretch . I love eating good food but with prices going the way they are getting more out of less is WAY more important to me .
Oh good, it's two separate recipes. Carry on.
reminds me of Walter Mitty
Mmmm salmon and clementine cake. Yum.
salmon and white fish fillet are the only fish that my bosses like.. this recipe is really good to try🥰🥰🥰
I love good salmon 🙂 Used to get it fresh when I lived in Anchorage 😀 Government intervention in too many areas results in poor fishing practices and failure of systems.
I trust ATK enough that I was willing to approach the idea of a salmon and clementine cake with an open mind.
I'm relieved I don't have to, but I was willing.
Well, if anybody ever wondered why we need the Harvard comma…now you know. 😁
thank you🙏 for sharing …specially the way and practice in old day how to people treat the Salmon as food with the respectful of nature, but now totally a difference story, it's kind of sad to see that 😔😕
While everyone here comments on the title, I appreciated the segment explaining what baking powder actually does and what “double acting” means. Thanks ATK.
Alright people, who's going to try to make a salmon and clementine cake? You know who would figure it out – Lan Lam. She can do anything!
Punctuation is everything.
Title is a bit off-putting thought it was all one cake…
Oh my gosh, the title had me sitting there for a minute thinking about how fish and clementine might go together. Great recipes as usual though, and that segment on leaveners was awesome.
This is where the Oxford comma is absolutely required.
The title definitely makes this sound like a cake with salmon and clementine in it
ATK, grammar is important!
