bulgar is similar to dailya thats a very easily digestible and easy on stomach food . one could use the maser dal(red lentil ) mixture with besan that gives binding and then fry them too .
Looks soooo yummy! But, couldn’t it be even better if you e.g. cover in panko crumbs and airfry or fry?
I made these yesterday. The herb salad makes these amazing. Do not skip, like I almost did.
Pan-fried these in olive oil. Delicious! Think: felafel.
First, I’m so curious if this was inspired by being so close to Watertown, MA?! Second, I’d rethink Aleppo pepper- is it so easy to get given the political situation over there the past handful of years? I know Curio stopped carrying it a while back for that reason.
This looks pretty darn good, and I happen to have a few small bags of red lentils in my pantry.
What a great recipe, thanks
Georgian Armenian, thank you for showing our traditional dish!
Armenian dishes are really delicious ❤️ thank you, thank you ❤️
I’ve had these before but they were fried. Yum
One of my favorite Armenian dishes!
There is no such thing as “meat restriction by Armenian Apostolic Church” unless it is an Easter lent, but that applies to all christian denominations. Your words in the sentence are luck of knowledge and misleading.
Armenian vegetarian cooking at its best (and, yes, it’s one of my favorites). Thank you❤
Love Vospov Kufte. Light, refreshingly vegan. Great for Lent or anyday. Perfect with a side salad and pickled vegetables! Thank you ATK for sharing!
Oh, I thought the dish was deep fried 😜
Is this served cold, room temp, or either?
Thank you, America's Test Kitchen, my favorite cooking show. Thank you Dan, you are awsome.
Hmm? I love Mac n cheese with hotdogs! Definitely, not meatless. The salty of the hotdog pairs so perfectly with the creaminess of the Mac n cheese. Definitely one of my favorites! 💖🌞🌵😷
full blooded Armenian here and even though this vospov koofteh is close, no cigar. We don't use butter at all and never cook the vosp with oil. Don't even know what aleppo pepper is, it sure isn't armenian. My mom would present the koofteh as a whole mass plated on a dish with some green onions sprinkled on it and all would use a spoon
to take some and place on their plate. Dan, you are close, so I guess that is your interpretation of our dish.
This is what we would eat a lot of because we were poor. Armenian dishes are the best and so healthy.
Lent is also a time to eat meatless dishes. I have recipes that would blow one's mind because they are so flavorful, yet meatless. Vegans, make this dish without the butter. It is absolutely delishious. One can also make lentil soup which is again, meatless and vegan before it was even a concept. Bulghur is pronounced bulghoor, not bulghur.
Can't wait to make this! Than you Dan and Bridget!
OHMIGOSH! I can't wait to try this recipe! It looks so absolutely delicious!
Thank you, ATK & Dan! You guys rock! ♥
I make this recipe frequently because my family just loves it. It's so delicious!
You made me hungry 🤤
Proud Armenian here and love these segments you do so much ❤ Dan! you rock as always 🙂
THIS IS VERY SAD GUYS ITS A BAD RECIPE I AM SORRY THIS IS JUST BAD
Gr8 presentation! Is there a substitute for the butter?
For an ancient Lenten recipe he sure added a lot of butter
This is so great! Can we please get more western asian/ eastern European foods?
My mom also adds some red pepper paste for color and taste. We typically eat it as a lettuce wrap. I will definitely try this version. Great stuff!!
Next time try Turkish lentil kofte 😉
