  1. I’m surprised she didn’t mention zapping the squash in the microwave before peeling or cutting (2-4 minutes depending on size.). Makes cutting the squash SO much easier. Microwave until neck is just too hot to hold in your hand. Allow to cool until handleable. Always works for me on butternut, delacata, pumpkin and similar relatively thin shinned winter squash.

  2. I just use a small 8" chain saw, so much faster. But I've found that the rubber mallet with the chain saw just leaves too many black chunks in the squash… 😁 Thanks for the mallet tip, I always have one in the tool box I keep next to the kitchen so now it will actually move into the kitchen.
