Ok so what’s funny to me is that this was considered a “cheap” meal decades bsxk but in my family this is easily considered one of the “special” meals that are made on holidays or birthdays
We used to make it with spam and also dried chipped beef. But ground beef and chorizo mix is our southwest take of it. And always toasted white sandwich bread.
My husband kept talking about SOS when he came home from the military. I had no idea what he was talking about because when my mother made it, it was delicious. It’s the only thing that he asks me not to make because the memories are so bad 😂
This fed the Americans during ww2
My family made this growing up, but instead of toast it was mashed potatoes and corn
Wait isn't it supposed to be chipped beef?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep your videos coming.

It looked good until you added a nasty onion
💩 on a shingle… One of my favorite breakfast items when i was active duty.
Was sausage for us especially if we didn’t or couldn’t make biscuits
I'll always be a fat kid at heart so i make sure to butter and toast the bread before flinging the gravy and scrambled eggs on top
That’s not it it’s made with corn beef and hard boiled eggs on toasted white bread or rye
Chickbeefs n gravy

shit on a shingle is a staple low/middle income white person food
You lost me at the frozen bread there cowboy 😜. Ole Birtha is plenty capable of making some good 7 ingredient bisquits.

Had that just about every morning when I was in the Army in the 70’s
