  1. I love my instapot but the saute isn't sufficient for browning. It boils or braises even if I let saute heat up for 10 minutes first. To get the flavor right I typically still do the browning on the stove top and I'll deglaze into the insta.

  2. For those who where struggling to follow the recipe, just like me:

Dried shallots 3tbsp, minced garlic 2bsp, brown sugar 2tbsp, white pepper 1tsp, salt 1tsp, rice wine 2tbsp, dark soy sauce 2tbsp, a half cup of light soy sauce (125ml) and 3 and 3/4 cups of water (or 4 cups for slow cooker)

  3. I made this tonight for dinner. Oh my goodness this was amazing and everyone loved it. I served it over egg fried rice. So, so good. I’ve subbed and am looking through your videos for more deliciousness.

  4. I made this for lunch today! Nice, easy, tasty recipe. She mentions 5 spice in the end – after doing research on other braised pork recipes, a good amount of five spice to use is 1/2 teaspoon, put in with all the other ingredients before pressure cooking. 🙂 I also used a cornstarch slurry to thicken up the sauce in the end. Yummy recipe! Thanks for sharing.

  5. OMG ! Cooking like that where got aroma ? Must stir fry them well to golden and fries then add in the water. Try it and I am sure you will find the differences. Sorry to say like this as I never touch if Braised Pork cooked this way. All my sister in laws even my late father in law said my Breaised Pork Belly tasted so good and smelled so good .

  6. Hi Angel, need to consult you. I am cooking braised pork hocks and trotters using my Instant Pot. I usually used this pot for cooking congee and soup and it always show 30 mins. Tonight when I pushed the Meat Stew button, I was surprised to see only 20 mins. I thought it would show 30 mins. – 45 mins. Because cooking meat stew to my knowledge would take longer. Should I have used the Pressure Cook button instead like the way you did your pork belly?
    Please advise. Thank you.

  7. First recipe we used our instant pot for! We halved the recipe for two. Tweaked the final product- added a few drops of fish sauce and some kecap manis for more sweetness. Added a whole serrano and chopped green onion at the end and served it with steamed bokchoy. Bf loves it. Thank you so much!

  8. We had a family potluck yesterday and I would have used my usual go-to stovetop recipe for this but my in-laws were using my stove. So in a pinch, I went with your instant pot recipe instead. The result? It was a hit at the party and my Taiwanese aunt said it was better than hers!

  9. Lovely recipe. I've made your instant pot version twice and it's come out beautifully both times. I do end up with a lot of leftover braising liquid, though and it seems like a waste to throw it away. Do you have any recommendations for ways to reuse the braising liquid?
