Hello and Happy St. Patrick’s Day my Friends, welcome to my Southern Kitchen!
Today I’ve got a great Quick Bread recipe to share with y’all and it will be perfect and a hit for your St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Irish Brown Bread! Moist, full of flavor, and made with Whole Wheat Flour, Oatmeal and a hint Guinness Beer! Everyone will love and enjoy this, don’t forget the Butter!

Irish Brown Bread Recipe
1 cup old fashioned rolled oatmeal, divided
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
1 cup Guinness stout beer, room temperature
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature (homemade or store bought)
1/4 cup molasses
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 8x4x2 inch loaf pan with PAM Baking or Baker’s Joy baking spray with flour (or grease with butter) and set aside.
Roughly chop 1/4 cup of the oatmeal and set aside. In a medium bowl, add in the remaining 3/4 cup of oatmeal, flour, baking soda, salt, and brown sugar, whisk together until well combined and set aside.
In a large bowl, add in the oil, stout beer, buttermilk, and molasses, stir until well blended. Slowly add in the flour mixture into the beer mixture and mix until well blended.(Be careful not to over mix.) Pour the bread mixture into the prepared pan, smooth the top with a small offset spatula, and sprinkle the reserved 1/4 chopped oatmeal over the top. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let it set in the pan for about 10 minutes. After that, remove the bread from the pan and let it cool completely. Cut into desired slices, serve with butter and enjoy!
