Italian Creamy Zabaione | Italian recipes
Zabaione, a creamy and velvety italian dessert that it’s often enjoyed around Christmas.
Bringing back this recipe so you can enjoy a cozy, delicious treat that’s perfect for this season.
Ingredients:
4 egg yolks
80 g of granulated sugar – (1/4 cup + 3 tbsp)
80 g of Marsala or other any dessert wine (1/4 cup + 1 tbsp)
Instructions:
1. Whisk up egg yolks at room temperature with sugar using an electric whisk until the mixture is creamy.
2. At this point, you can add half the Marsala and mix again with the whisk. Once incorporated, proceed with the second half of liqueur and mix once more.
3. Now using a double boiler, start whipping the zabaione, still using the whisk, for about ten minutes until it is fluffly.
4. Turn off the heat, mix for a few more minutes then serve your hot zabaione with cookie crumbs, or with fresh fruit, and chocolate shavings.

Taking me back! My mom used to make this when I was growing up. She would make a Genoa sponge (“genoise”) and layer it in a trifle bowl with fresh strawberries and the zabaglione. One of the best desserts ever.
