Back with our third Emirati recipe! In this video we show you how to make Khameer an Emirati bread recipe famous amongst local households and authentic Arabic restaurants. Check out our Arabic bread recipe!

Learn how to make Karak:

Ingredients (Makes 4 breads):
– 2 cups All Purpose Flour + dusting
– ½ tbsp Instant Yeast
– 3 tbsp Sugar
– ½ tsp Salt
– ½ tsp Cardamom Powder
– ½ tbsp Baking Powder
– ½ – ¾ cup Warm Milk
– 2 ½ tbsp Olive OIl
– ¼ tsp Saffron
– 1 tbsp Sesame seeds (black and white)

Direction:
1) In bowl of a food processor add flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt, baking powder and cardamom powder. Pulse the dry ingredient together.
2) Add in olive oil and mix once.
3) Slowly add in the milk and mix till soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
4) Kneed the dough for 2 minutes on a surface dusted with flour.
5) Place dough in a greased bowl and cover with cloth and let rest for for 1.5 hours.
6) Preheat oven to 260˚C.
7) Divide the dough into 4 balls. On a dusted surface, one by one roll the dough balls into ¼ inch thick circles, make sure it’s not thin.
8) Lay the dough on rack.
9) In a small bowl mix Saffron with 2 tbsp warm Milk, and brush the surface of the dough with the Saffron wash.
10) Add sesame on top.
11) Place the rack in the hot oven and bake for approximately 4 minutes (bread should puff and get color on the bottom)
12) Take out bread and cool slightly before serving.
