This Meat and Klazel recipe is a family favorite. There’s something truly special about family recipes, and I’m excited to share a beloved dish that has been passed down from my Grannie in Germany: klazel. Traditionally made with beef rouladen, I decided to shake things up a bit by using chuck roast instead.
One of my favorite hacks for this recipe involves preparing the onions. After boiling them for just two minutes, turn off the heat and let them sit for five minutes. Then, transfer the onions to a bowl of cold water for another 2 to 3 minutes. This makes peeling them a breeze! Just cut the top off the stem side, set the onion upside down, and slice a small slit in the root. This little trick ensures the onion pops right out of its outer shell—trust me, you don’t want to skip this step, or it might just explode!
There’s more of my Grannies recipes like Gram Gram’s German Beef Goulash and Spaetzle.

The only one I think you kind of look like Blake Shelton
In Germany we call them Klöße/ Kloeße
You should make a cookbook of family recipes
Amazing. My 88 soon to be 89 year old mother in law is from Germany. She was the best cook with everything that she made. She still has calluses on her hands from boiling potatoes then pealing them while still hot. I always make her ribs and sauerkraut for Nee Years. About 6 months ago I asked her if she would like ANYTHING in particular to eat. The one thing she asked for was rouladen and Snowballs. I have made the rouladen with mashed and boiled potatoes for her before. My wife told me of these Snowballs she used to make. No recipes anywhere to be found around the house. After showing my wife your video, she started to cry and said that was it. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS, can’t make it tonight, but you can bet that I am making them tomorrow. Not going to tell her about it, just hand the plate to her and see THE HUGE SMILE on her face. THANK YOU AGAIN, and always take care
I am 100 % full-blown German – like a hun in a tank, but NEVER heard of it. Thank you for the inspiration, though ❣️🇩🇪
Chuco is arguably my favorite cut
