Daniel shows you how to make Korean Grilled Mackerel. This is a very common homecooking dish in Korea. Pacific Mackerel is light, white fish that’s rich in omega 3. Best of all, its cheap too! Great to include as part of a balanced diet. I grew up eating it at least once a week!

I also show you how to make Braised Mackerel with Radish. This is a savory dish, where we braise mackerel and radish in a flavored soy sauce broth. The result is what we call a “rice killer”. See video for more!

  1. If you're not going to eat rice… 😱😱😱There's a few other ways to reduce that fishy odour.
#1) Soak in milk for 10-15 minutes (Substance called Casein found in milk that binds with the fish odor)
#2) Pour 1:1 equal amount of vinegar + cold water (Not as effective as milk, reduced smell about 50%)
For both ways, remember to rinse-off afterwards!
Always say no to Stinky Fish!

  2. I found you too late I was just cooking my Nishiki rice and I just poured out all my rice water. Five minutes later I could’ve sold my mantle and rice water so I had to go for milk but that is awesome. I did not know that’s how you can take that fish taste put

  3. I’ve got a question after visiting my local Asian Super H-Mart to gather up some Mackerel for this recipe. Besides the good looking Spanish Mackerel the seafood dept has on ice, there was no shortage of flash frozen options. Some were salted, others were not. Can I ask what the best choice would be for the pan fried recipe? So many options that I decided to 86 the recipe tonight and instead whipped up your Tuna Jjegae recipe. It was delish. Thank you in advance for your guidance on the Mack!
