My mom always used toothpicks to keep them from sliding. If someone got a slice of cake with a toothpick, she always told us to tell them,"If you got a slice of cake with a toothpick, that means you don't get another slice. SURPRISE
If you use water soaked cake strips and room temperature ingredients, your cake will not be domed. Then you don't have to cut off so much cake. I always do this and have perfectly flat cakes.
Always remember to put your cake in the fridge after you put your first frosting on it to cover the crumbs. Maybe for about an hour at least. Then your cake will be hard and ready for the final frosting. This is a very necessary step.
Thank you Bridget, Happy New Year 🥰
Jeez, everything from the background kitchens (yes, I know ATK moved to Boston's Seaport area since this) to the people have come a LONG way. It's great to see the same faces, too.
Even their wardrobe and makeup has evolved.
You made it look so easy but, it's my granddaughters birthday and I'm going to try it. Thank you.
