Ever tried sweet spaghetti… made with BANANA KETCHUP… and HOT DOGS?! This sweet spaghetti recipe, aka Filipino spaghetti, is much loved throughout the Philippines and is a famous comfort food. It’s like a spaghetti and meat sauce but sweeter, due to the main component of the sauce: bananas! Yep, banana ketchup is sweet, savoury but delicious, giving serious umami vibes without a tomato in sight. Oh, and did I mention there are hot dogs in this recipe too?!

In other words "ang sarap" (this is delicious) huhuhuhuuu i had this in every party i'm in during holidays but i feel like eating another round for this week again 🤣
As a food content creator and culinary trained, this is definitely my top 3 comfort food. And growing up we usually use red hotdog
As a Filipino, living in Australia. Filipino spaghetti is always on the table. My kids loved it, they always say Mommy's spaghetti. Sometimes my kids bring it to school during their school activities and it will always finish in no time.
Good on ya mate! Luvvv ur asian-inspired dishes!
We don’t really use canned hotdogs. Never heard of it. We use Red hotdogs. I feel like using Banana ketchup for Filipino spaghetti is more Carinderia style. We do use tomato sauce/pasta sauce also.
This dish is like when you are a kid and put ketchup on pasta, but instead of that boring experience it is meaty and sweet. You can add chili's to it to give it depth. Or spicy sausage… I be crazy and put in fermented fish sauce (bagoong isda) and regular fish sauce (patis) for even MORE depth. Agh I miss thissss
This is good, but we use any hot dogs and we use fresh hotdogs, mostly. You probably saw someone using Vienna sausage in a can. But mostly, we use the ones in plastic vacuum bags. Also, we use ground beef instead of pork. But hey, it’s your recipe. I don’t think I’ve eaten a pork spaghetti yet.
Thx for this shout out 😄🇵🇭 love how many different recipes you love to make 😋😋😋
I went to a Thai restaurant in Maryland before and they had something similar to sweet and spicy spaghetti but it has shrimp instead of ground meat. It reminded me so much of Filipino spaghetti, it was so good. I regret not remembering what it's called.
Filipino style spaghetti is best paired with Fried chicken! These are usually served during kids' birthday parties. In fact one of Jollibee's most popular meals is the Chickenjoy and Jolly Spaghetti combo. Hope you can try it out!
Congrats approve ni nanay 👌🏽🤣
Italians might get angry but Filipinos will definitely be happy for this dish!😊
Not those canned hotdogs. We use red-colored hotdogs.
We add condensed milk for more sweetness 😊
Im a filipino and i like ur style of cooking
I dnt know wer u got the idea abt the canned hotdog but never saw some1 using that here. Normally its the red hotdog that are pack.
Canned hotdog for spaghetti? Most Filipino household would use the tender juicy hotdogs which are located either in the wall chillers or frozen section of the supermarkets in the Philippines.
We don't normally use canned hotdogs in Spaghetti, it's should be the red hotdogs from Purefoods, swift, bingo, any local Filo brands or the Filo red hotdogs imported in ur country. Canned hotdogs aren't good.
Well done for featuring our Filipino style spaghetti. I use to love it but moving to Europe I have got used to the sour sauce. But I still like both.
Growing up, my best and oldest friend was Persian. We are still super close to this day. I remember trying her mom's Persian style spaghetti for the first time and was SHOCKED by how delicious it was. The addition of saffron, turmeric, red pepper flakes. It was so different yet similar to the pasta I had. Its still one of my favorites tbh.
Her reaction tasting that piece of hotdog from the tin is priceless. I guess this is reason why Filipino food is of an acquired taste.
Lucky Tita Wilma!❤
Watching this video as I’m eating filo spaghetti now 😂 My husband is Italian and the first time he tried Filipino spaghetti he dropped his fork and said “what world did I wake up in.”
Fast forward 6 years later and he’s the first person to get seconds every Christmas 😂❤
Salamat Marion! Naiinggit naman ako kay Nanay Wilma dahil kapitbahay nya si Marion. Madalas siguro sya nakakatikim ng mga luto ni Marion 🙂
Nope, we don't use canned hotdogs! We also use garlic sauteed with the onions.
💛💛💛 Love it
I love you Marion for doing this!!
Americans HATE our spaghetti
A real Filipino Lola
Marion you can add black pepper and corned beef. Kids love it and adults too.
No black pepper? :((
i actually use tomato sauce apart from banana catsup so there is also a sourness to it. i love balance of flavor, saltiness ,sourness, sweetness and chiliness with pepper and some peppers
Hi Marion! At home, we also use margarine to sauté the minced meat, garlic and onions, and add a can or two of liver spread for extra flavour. I also know friends who put in evaporated milk on to the pasta sauce for creaminess. Please try these next time! 🥰
Japanese elementary school lunch was like this but with no cheese, and I occasionally miss it.
Looks so yummy. Was waiting for you to put some sugar, milk, or condensed milk on it. Really every child's fave. And makes you reminisce childhood memories while having them. 😁
Filipino spaghetti is an acquired taste for non-pinoys..either you like it or you don't. Much like durian or Shrimp paste. BTW, vicenzo already knew of Filipino Spaghetti thru Erwan Heussaff/@FEATRmedia food vlog. https://youtu.be/u-TP5laSoyY
Marion I love your recipes and buy a lot of your products, but as someone who has been to Italy and tries to perfect bolognese i was getting scared with every new crazy ingredient, love your channel and it was really interesting to see how other cultures put a spin on an Italian classic, really interesting video.
Omg legit that’s my mum, she didn’t tell me about this!!! 😂

Filipinos: [the Horde] You summon us, My Liege!
One secret ingredient that is not popularly known is condensed milk which makes it creamier and we don't use canned hotdogs but tender juicy red hotdogs that you can only find in the Filipino store. It's so nice to see you also try this recipe! 🙂
Not my "cup of tea". But it's interesting to see what other cultures enjoy. Thanks for posting.
This recipe is quite tame. I have seen recipe where they use all banana ketchup which is very sweet and add 1 cup of brown sugar to the sauce.
It should be Red Hotdogs not canned hotdogs 😅
