Louisiana Grills Kamado

The Louisiana Grills Kamado is a charcoal based on an ancient Chinese oven design. The heavy ceramic walls capture and radiate even heat and maximize thermal efficiencies of the coals. The heat distribution locks in moisture while top and bottom vents allow for precise temperature control.

  1. Bought one Saturday 4/27 at Costco and fired it up the next day cooking a whole chicken as test run. Turned out fantastic.
First assembly was a snap went without issue or any fitment issues.
Minor "spider webbing" throughout the dome glaze ONLY. Not a deal breaker for me. It's going to happen eventually through the contraction and expansion from outside temps in the coming year.
Threw some Kingsford charcoal mixed with Lazzari lump charcoal and once fired up I leveled it off to a steady 300°. Oh also threw some cherry wood in the bottom of the coals to smoke.
Cooked for two hours and chicken came out with crispy skin along with the most outstanding juicy meat. The chicken was gone in ten minutes. Flavor was liked by all.
If I could find fault is it's dome weight which was a tiny tiny bit on the heavy side but not bad. Wife is able to lift it with both arms easily and she is 5'4" pixie.
Also it's inability to turn off completely is a minus which can cos you coal if you are into buying the expensive stuff. Price of entry I guess.
I highly recommend this grill for it's price point at Costco. Looking forward to cooking all summer. Wishing you all a great smoke and grilling year.

Safety first! Told the wife about possible "blow out" when opening the grill and to first "burp" it by opening it a tiny bit for ten seconds to air to escape or the flames to come into contact. Guys have opened it immediately only for flames to jump out and singe their arms. DON'T wear long sleeve polyester either as it can melt to skin easily.
    Be safe but also enjoy.

  2. I bought one last summer. I absolutely love it. I’m definitely making some of the best meals I’ve ever made. My only issue is that I can barely get it up over 500 but they’re supposed to get over 700. I want to try a high heat sear on my steaks but find it frustrating that I can’t get the needle near that 700…

  3. I bought the medium grill offered by Canadian Tire last Summer. It's at least as good as any other kamado grill on the market at around half the price of the Big Green Egg. I've slow cooked briskets and ribs on this grill and also bbq'd steaks and burgers. I can't wait to try the pizza stone this Summer! Everything that comes off this grill is absolutely delicious.
