Microwave poached eggs are the best when just making one for yourself in the morning. Incredibly easy to do. Put half a cup of water in a small bowl add an egg salt and pepper. 1:45 on high. And there you go. Poached egg for breakfast no fuss.
I accidentally purchased grade AA eggs once and now try to buy grade AA only. There is definitely a quality difference. If I can’t I get the Vital Farm ones. Which I feel are a great substitute. I can’t eat the cheaply standard eggs I used to eat anymore. I have always loved eggs but didn’t know there was such a difference.
He stole Kenji’s Lopez’s method from his Food Lab book and Kenji says NEVER ADD VINEGAR you would have to add so much to the water in order to make it work
I stir boiled water off heat i stir it into a vortex and carefully drop the egg into the center or i should say i pour the egg carefully into the center and it falls and spins into itself the runny white spins off no biggie…and dont walk away from your poaching egg because its a fine line getweenpoached and hard boiled!
If I was a teenager with a limited attention span, then I might like this 'Short' format. But, then again I would probably turn to Tic Tok NOT YouTube. However, since I am an adult with a Normal attention span I tend to avoid Tic Tok. I also can't imagine why YouTube feels that they MUST compete with a Chinese company which is heavily restricted in it's own country and convince it's creators to gear down their content just to attract young teens, You are better than that, well, at least I thought that you were!!!
How come they always recommend swirling the water? Whenever I do that it just rips all the egg whites off the yolk. I wanna know a way to do many poached eggs easily and quickly. I don't want to mess around when I do them.
I don't like to use vinegar in the water when I make poached eggs. It changes the texture of the surface of the whites in such a way that I can't eat them. 🙁
Throughout my youth…we ate eggs no other way as my mama prepared eggs over-easy, as kids we used to call them “bubbled”. When grew up and stayed w/grandparents my grandma prepared eggs over easy but before flipping over gave each yolk a quick pop, then flip, cooked eggs thoroughly, I loved the taste so much, after that never ate eggs w/ runny yolks, to this day I still wont eat any eggs w/runny yolks. 🤢 I do love your ideas either way though 🥹🫶🏽

11/10 👍
It's important to season the egg soon after you remove it from the water. It's also if you leave them shell on immerse it in cold water.
For heaven's sake, this is the 21st century. Use a silicon floater to hold the egg together in the water while it's poaching.
If you don't like the flavour of vinegar then you can add some lemon juice directly onto the whites before you put it in the water

Why does eggs sometimes taste like a hint of ammonia I've been experiencing this lately and it's very awful
Thank you for telling people to blot the water before plating! It's ridiculous to be served a pool of water under a nicely poached egg.
I poach my eggs in the microwave. Game changer.

GREAT, really useful info!!!🙌 Dan?? IS the Man!!! ❤️❤️❤️😁👌
The thick bit is called the shoulder. A good egg will have a high shoulder.
Eggcellent instructions!!! 🥚
How much salt? And how much vinegar please?
I thought the salt and vinegar methods was already debunked. Only adds unwanted flavor to the eggs
Fried eggs > poached eggs

Hottake: poached eggs aren't worth the effort. Fancy but not better than a regular fried egg.
Good to know! Thanks 😊
It is insane how many videos I have watched on making poached eggs. You have actually added some tips I hadn’t heard.😎
