Mesquite Smoked Turkey – Smokin' Joe's Pit BBQ

Thank you for watching my mesquite smoked turkey video. On this video, I smoked up a boneless turkey breast on my Bison offset smoker using a very tasty mesquite wood. Smoked turkey breast are so much easier to smoke than whole turkeys and its much cleaner too.

Thanks for watching

  1. Hey Joe! Thanks for the tips and the video! I’m going to try wrapping like you did. We typically roll all the way through to 158 then pan it and cover with butter. I do have a question though. I have a Ben E Keith account and I never can figure out which turkey breast to get. So we always get it from another supplier. Wonder if you have any advice on which one this is?

  2. Joe, Joe, Joe…no to the foil wrap. Or maybe suggest you wrap one and not the other. I’ve never wrapped them and like you pull them off at 158°F and they’re perfectly juicy. However, I do use an injection comprised of butter, garlic, and onion powder and 2 tablespoons of liquid smoke.

  3. Where's the lettuce. They were out of turkey breasts they were bone in. It's funny how they use mesquite on turkey, our deli has it I thought it was fantastic but I was nervous about smoking whole turkey on grill with it. Have you ever tried dry brining I want to try that this year. Lastly what temp would you use. I iused 325 last year. I've seen 225 275. I think Im going to do 275. Aaron Franklin put out video doing same method, he did whole turkey. Cook to 135, then smother with butter, he used 2 lbs of butter then wrapped took off at 158. I think he mentioned you could put it back on for crisper skin. Great Video Joe, Happy Thanksgiving

  4. I think this is the 5th, maybe 6th, Turkey video I've watched in the last 2 to 3 weeks. And with each passing video, the desire to get a smoker (looking at a pellet smoker, since I'm a beginner) is getting stronger. I love your content, Joe, you're amazing.
