Mouthwatering Beef Bhuna Recipe For Beginners



A rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced beef dish? This Bangladeshi-inspired Beef Bhuna is slow-cooked to perfection, packed with aromatic spices, and melts in your mouth!

Made with simple ingredients and easy steps, this classic beef recipe is perfect for any occasion. Pair it with paratha or steaming hot rice, and you’ve got a meal that’s guaranteed to impress!

Ingredients:
Beef – 1.2 kg
Salt – 1¾ tsp (or to taste)
Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
Plain yogurt – ¾ cup
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tbsp (or to taste)
Nutmeg powder – ½ nutmeg
Mace – 1 blade
Cooking oil – 1 tbsp
Onion (thinly sliced) – 1 cup + ½ cup
Water – 1 cup + 1¼ cups (hot water)
Mustard oil – ¼ cup
Ghee – 1½ tbsp
Black cardamom – 1
Cardamom – 5
Cinnamon sticks – 2
Garlic (chopped) – 1½ tbsp
Green chili – 6-7
Garam masala – ½ tsp
Roasted cumin powder – ½ tsp
Instructions:
Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, add 1.2 kg beef.
Add salt (1¾ tsp), ginger paste (1 tbsp), plain yogurt (¾ cup), turmeric powder (1 tsp), red chili powder (1 tbsp), nutmeg powder (½ nutmeg), mace (1 blade), and cooking oil (1 tbsp).
Mix well and set aside for 30 minutes.
Cook the Beef

In a pan, heat 1 cup of thinly sliced onions and fry until soft.
Add the marinated beef along with 1 cup of water. Mix well, cover, and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Prepare the Masala

In another pan, heat ¼ cup mustard oil and 1½ tbsp ghee.
Add ½ cup thinly sliced onions, 1 black cardamom, 5 cardamoms, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 1 blade of mace. Cook until the onions turn light brown.
Add 1½ tbsp chopped garlic and fry until golden brown.
Pour this mixture into the beef pot and mix well until the water evaporates.
Final Cooking

Add 1¼ cups of hot water and 6-7 green chilies. Cover and cook on low heat until the beef is tender.
Finishing Touch

Taste for seasoning and add more salt if needed.
Sprinkle ½ tsp garam masala and ½ tsp roasted cumin powder. Mix well.
Serve hot with paratha or rice.
