  1. Very good video, I have a question,I am going to do a fire pit and a BBQ grill on my backyard and my question is, can the gas and electricity lines go together so as not to dig another ditch? And I will need two gas lines if I am going to make a fire pit and a BBQ grill or just need one gas pipe ? the fire fit and the BBQ will be separated from each other 25 feet

  2. surprized to see no initial test or let by test of the ecv. and only checking for leaks with fluid? simply purging the gas pipe using an existing appliance until it goes out is not good enough imo, it does not ensure the stop valve is not passing.. as another in other comments stated no leak test. you didnt show end product after you finished the job under the gas fire.i hope you didnt leave them stainless pipes naked. how would you know how to size a gas pipe, seems like an afterthought. then know how to test that it ALL works. unless everything is exposed. even then you need to test in case of blockages. etc etc etc.

uk based and hoping your not canadian. i ski in canada. america can do as they like. i'd be shocked to see if it's legal. either contry.

risk assesments eh. they differ everywhere. did you bother the check the injectors in that bbq you bought. second hand probably………………

pro diy. can you make me a calculation for black iron need to build a still in the backwoods. how far do i cut into the pipe? LPG. im joking.if i wanted to work it out i would:P or just guess it.

  3. This guy sounds like he know what he's talking about, but he is so wrong on so many levels. This is NOT the way to install a gas line to the BBQ! The gas line to the fireplace was sized for the fireplace only and NOT to be spliced off for additional appliances. Gas fitters know and understand the pipe sizing as to how many BTU's are needed for each appliance and we run the right size pipe to each appliance. Cutting into a pipe and installing a tee is NOT acceptable and will cause issues to the fireplace as well as the bbq. This is why these DIY HACKS never mention pulling permits or getting a licensed gas fitter to do the work the right way.

  4. According to the local building inspector, galvanized pipe is acceptable for gas line use. In the late 1900's it was approved due to the improvements in galvanizing technology. Apparently, early galvanizing processes were prone to the zinc coating flaking off and plugging orifices, etc. but now it is no longer an issue.
