Alton Brown solved the directional freezing problem years ago.
One process time saver I've found to work well for me is to use a cooler like this with no lid, but with silicone molds into which I've punched holes on the bottoms of each cube, and then fitted into the top of the cooler.
It speeds up the process after freezing and then they're much more uniform.
wow another useless thing not to buy
Cool and also a tip of the cap for putting minimal thought into the video production and so abstaining from putting the annoying fast-scrolling text over the middle of the video. It's a pet peeve of mine.
How easy! Luckily I have a meat locker in my kitchen…
America's Test Kitchen….really? Viewers of your channel would already know the value of a freezer and probably have a well stocked freezer already….one without space for a whole cooler full of water.
🤦🏻♀️
“How to ruin everything else in your freezer”
This is the dictionary definition of "doing too much."
I did this many years ago, but I broke my cooler. The inner plastic liner came free from the foam insulation
Or you could get an ice machine that makes clear ice. There are some pretty cheap options.
Know how I make ice? I freeze some water. 🙄
I’ve been doing this for years. My guests are always mystified at the clear ice
Listen you fool, freeze water in a thermos. Easy.
You think I have the space for this? I also have a solo freezer.
Americas Jest Kitchen. What a joke this is.
Ludicrous is the operative word.
So… how does this help the normal person make a normal sized ice cube that’s clear? Who, in reality, will ever need a big ice block like this?
Just use water that’s passed through a filter instead of the nonsense in this video.
My Reverse osmosis filtered water makes great clear cubes in standard cube trays. So much easier!
Appreciate it!!!! I've been trying to replicate the same thing
Not that clear….
First world problems😂
Just boil the water first. No need for putting a cooler in your freezer.
All for cosmetic purposes
