  1. Not for everyone but I modified my micro-plane and love it! I took a very small flathead screwdriver and gently lifted the teeth on about a third of the grater. Now I can still have a very fine grate or use the modified end for a courser grate. Works grate!😄

  2. Raspers come with different size teeth for different purposes, though. A rasper that is great for zesting a lemon would leave you standing at the cutting board for untold millennia trying to grate ginger for kombucha. I'd love to see a follow up where you talked about appropriate rasp-style graters for different tasks. I'd say fine for lemon zesting, medium for Parmesan, and course for ginger.

  3. I currently have a Deiss grater and have noticed the center 5"-6" portion is not as sharp/aggressive as are the ends portions. I don't believe I use it enough to "dull" the center portion. Frustrated with the performance, I pulled the trigger on your recommended grater. Thanks for your testing / comprehensive analysis and the video! Keep them coming!

  4. A tip If you decide to purchase the winning grater on Amazon: Always check the color options. Prices actually vary depending on the color. The turquoise handle shown in the above clip was $12.95 while the red handled version is listed at $10.29 and the white colored handle is $14.20

  5. That handle is poor quality. It's two pieces and the glue gives out in the dish machine. The inner piece is quite small and not very usable. Stick with the one piece plastic handle if you're in a professional kitchen.
