CHI-CHI'S is filled with chemicals. Gross. Pace has nothing artificial in it. Pace Medium is fantastic.
Plus, why would anyone buy mild salsa? get medium or don't bother.
I happen to think Newman's Own is the best out there and I've tasted a fair amount of salsa, some are too salty, many are too watery….but I just think Newman's Own was by far the freshest and best tasting for the mild. Everyone has different tastes though

I always enjoyed this segment with Chris kimball and Jack. this is ok. seems forced. I'm in Colorado. never heard of Chi Chis. I like Mrs Renfro's. better ingredients. also trader Joe's is good.
Shocking to me they chose Chi Chi's as the favorite. Not my personal favorite. There are loads of other brands with mild salsas. My personal favorites are Herdez mild Salsa Casera, Desert Pepper mild salsa, and Tostitos "Restaurant style"(only) mild salsa. All of these taste fresh and delicious to me.
Herdez is pretty good. I much prefer pico de gallo – made fresh at the farmer's market from left-over veggies.

Everyones tastes and opinions are different. Lifes short , buy what You Like. Used to like the heat , but so many lose flavor and its just novelty. Bunch of us used to go over the macho top on heat everything…WHY? I like flavor , not pain. Pace has always been my regular , and I like Chi-Chis , and have found a few I like , a few I dont. Like I said , forget the rest , buy what you enjoy and be Blessed.
Sasa is a sauce and not pico!
The best store-bought salsa I've found is Jaime's Spanish Village Salsa made in Austin, Texas. It's available in some Whole Foods or Central Markets in Texas and by mail order from the company (search for it). It's made with three simple ingredients: tomatoes, jalapenos, and garlic. The "hot" is full of heat.
I buy thick n chunky store brand salsa cause I have to watch my funds and it's just fine to me

personally I'm more into local brands' salsa (plus more into medium) but ChiChi's is definitely best outside of local brands.
I like the aldis salsa and add chochola to taste. Can’t beat price and flavor
H-E-B makes the best, with the “that’s Salsa bout Texas” salsa, if you live in Texas or Mexico you can buy it at any H‑E‑B store, if you don’t live in Texas then I suggest moving.
Believe it or not, the wal mart store brand is surprisingly equal to a couple of these.
Tostitos is best
Believe it or not, Walmart mild salsa is my "go to!"
So Tostitos and Pace are probably the biggest selling brands and you show them in the start but you don't let her taste them??? Am I missing something here?

Not sure what the point of mild salsa is…I guess if you can't handle hotter foods, but medium and beyond give you flavor.
Again, leaving out more popular brands. Would have like to have seen Pace, Tostitos, La Victoria, Herdez, etc. Also, should have gone with medium heat whenever possible.

My problem with most mild salsas is they just taste like tomatoes with an occasional chunk of jalapeño. I personally HATE jalapeño flavor, so they're almost all total losers for me. I recently had Tostito's restaurant style medium, which was watery but tasted okay. It did indeed taste like the Mexican restaurants where they don't try very hard – all those places have the same salsa. For me, nothing comes close, even slightly, to what I get at my favorite restaurant, El Indio in Portland. It's a couple alarms hotter than basically anything else I put into my face, but the flavor is just so good, and totally unlike anything else I've found. I can buy it to-go from the restaurant, but a 16oz cup of salsa costs about as much as an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (and alarmingly gets hotter and hotter in the fridge) so I don't do it too often.
