Good information. I've heard from other sources that the California stuff is your best bet when you're trying to sort it out.
We bought a bottle of Italian EVOO at Lidl's called 'Lidl's Preferred Selection'. Very good!
You should have mentioned how many ounces for that dollar amount, thanks
Sorry Test Kitchen, Carapelli is the "best" store brand, California Olive Ranch is #2: your test is not only incomplete it's inaccurate🙄
Not a clue about the topic. Spain is the world's top producer of olive oil. There are many brands but the most important is a wide variety of olives. Each has its own flavors and degrees of acidity. Each is used for a different purpose, from cooking to using raw from mixing to making soap.
Nice video but much too limited in the number of comparisons offered. Of the three brands, two are not even sold in our area. Would have been nice to see some of the top selling brands (most available) compared to these three.
Oh my goodness. Aspirate olive oil?
This is how you get lipoid pneumonia.
I am a lung doctor
In Tunisia, we have the best extra virgin olive oil in the world, but i need partnership between me and American man or woman
Too bad they are all adulterated .. No telling where the oil came from or how old the olives are .. Plus oils are usually cut with other oils such as vegetable soy or other oils
Never buy Italian olive oils because they cheat and add cheap oil. Only buy Greek olive oil preferably from crete
Baloney! tasteless olive oil is best.
I just reset and restocked the olive oil at the local grocery store today… those bottles get DUSTY… Be warned shoppers!
Do I really want my olive oil to taste like olive oil, tho?
California EVOO is the best in this selection, the other ones are pure crap and fake.
I did a similar test of 7 different olive oils; California, Tuscany, Spain, Morocco, Greece, Sicily and Lebanon. Certainly was not a benchmark because within each of these countries there are many olive producers. It was a blind test and remarkably the Sicilian oil from Trader Joes was the only one that stood out. I use it exclusively now. Also the best bargain of the group.
California here I come!♥️
Ok I will look for California olive ranch
Change name to USA's Test Kitchen ….Columbus discovered America, not the USA.
Unfortunately, since this video was made several yrs ago, even California Olive Ranch has sold out (economic pressure?) and now makes blended olive oil with oils from various countries. I was shocked when I picked up a bottle recently and read the label 😕.
California Olive Ranch and Pompeian both are from a variety of countries and not expiration date on either one.
I can't believe they aren't even using Organic olive oil. Unbelievable.
2022, Test no longer valid. Not the same "California" oil any more…It's now a blend. Bleh!
and yet great value cold pressed EVOO still tastes good haha.
I looked for California Olive Rance but found they make many different grades. The label listed olives from all over the World and none of them were the same version they show on this show. I could not find one that matches the one reviewed here and was reluctant to buy the ones I found because they did not match the advice given here.
This girl likes her olive oil
You're testing canola oil cut with a little bit of rancid bad quality 'olive oil'
The owner of our supermarket called Selectos, in El Salvador, is from Bilbao but his son was probably born in El Salvador. They have their own brand of olive oil and it comes in a green bottle. My maid walked into the kitchen and raved about the aroma one day when I was just making eggs. I still pay $5.50 for 500ml.
What is usually a very mediocre, unfresh olive oil when it is a blend of olives from different countries. Somewhere along the process some of it has been sitting there for two long.. Every country has slightly different quirks in the taste and by combining these the specialness of a particular country's wine. My parents taught be to mix everything together when eating Chines food. I thought that was weird as a kid, and I still do!
We use only spain imported olive oils in Puerto Rico it simply complements our style of dishes better.
My olive oils are bitter. I read they are supposed to have some bitterness. Is that true?
California olive ranch is adding So. American olive oil now???
Italy does bottle a lot of Spain produced olive oil without actually disclosing it. Be careful about that.
I’ve discovered a rare Gourmet Limited edition Product. It’s new on Amazon from a small farm. VIRGEEN Italian Olive Oil with high polyphenol content. The box comes with a CERTIFICATION that shows the original lab reports and PROVES the high concentration of Polyphenols! It’s 4 times more than the average olive oils.
Being a Certified Nutrition Coach, it’s pivotal for me to meet my healthy needs and find natural products that I can trust will nourish my body.
Best purchase ever. Already bought 4 bottles. Your body will thank you!
Excellent and very accurate information! Bravo ATK!!
Old video but anyone in the know about the bitterness from the polyphenols? Is that a good thing and is it primary or secondary from a health perspective?
Definitely helpful!
