So I have very successfully made these gluten free 🎉. They are absolutely delicious. There’s a couple modifications that are needed. I used King Arthur GF and it took 2 1/4c. It doesn’t rise like gluten filled does but it does get bubbly. It also remains more of a fluffy batter. I also had to use ring molds because when I didn’t they flattened more however still were delicious. Hope that helps someone. Oh also my sourdough starter is a brown rice flour based starter. Much love and blessings and thanks for this keeper of a recipe Katie dear.
You are so right about technique with sourdough. I'm in MO, and what works for me may not work for my DIL in NC. It may work even better for her. So many factors determine sourdough success. I also feel for you and your daughter with allergies. Pineapple and kiwi were my favorite fruits growing up. Almost 10 years ago I started having mouth burning issues with both. Last year I had anaphylaxis reaction from kiwi. I'm seeing an allergist soon to see what else is now off limits. God bless you and your family. ❤️
New viewer here. Good info. Which grain mill do you have? Do you recommend it?
Yes, I would love your dough dough starter. My first loaf fabulous. Downhill from there🤷. Difficult y understanding discard🧐
Very enjoyable! Thank you for sharing!
They came out beautiful that is my goal to make bread and I love sour dough bread will be trying it 😊
Where do you get those plastic covers for your bowls?
Something that has really helped our dry rashy eczema hands is making our own foaming soap. We use castile soap and water in a foaming pump. We used to have so many issues with dry hands and this has basically eliminated it.
So sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well again! I had some kind of sinus infection unlike any I have had before and I still can’t hear out of my left ear! It’s been 3 weeks! I thought of you because I remember you having to have cotton in your ear a while back and not feeling good then! Looking forward to spring and warmth and sunshine! I love sourdough and enjoy working with it. I also enjoy watching how others bake with theirs. Everyone is a little different and you have to find what works for you! I would say yes to selling your starter but I don’t know how you will find the time to do it! You are so busy!
💜💜💜💜💜
Would love to get a sourdough starter. That sounds like a great idea!
Team work makes the family function better. So glad you have Aaron to help in the kitchen. I'm praying you feel better Katie. This was a great video. I'm studying sourdough. I'm gonna attempt it soon. Be blessed my friend.
Hi, Katie! I’m wondering what 2 different flours you are combining in the video for the sourdough recipes. I’ve tried the English muffins, but mind did not rise up very well or completely cook in the center. Maybe my skillet wasn’t hot enough, but not sure. Enjoying your videos 😊
I would still do the starter. You can start your own little shop of things to sell. Eg; sour dough starter, elderberry tonic, whatever you want. Great vlog. I'll have to start up my sour dough starter again. I was making bread while watching this vlog. Since I have carpal tunnel and arthritis in my arms and hands, I use my bread machine to do all the work for me on setting 8, then I bake it off in bread pans in my oven. I suffer from eczema too. I found a lotion that helps a lot. Golden Bond extra medicated, in the green container. Because when you wash your hands dozens of times a day, you dry out the skin and then eczema pops out. So, just keep moisturized, especially when you retire for the night.
Great video. I’m fairly new to making homemade bread. It’s been about a year. I love sourdough but to intimidated to make. You however make it look so easy lol. I will be watching your full video on how to make sourdough. Thanks for all the great content. I love watching you cook for your family. God Bless😊
Thanks Katie. You definitely should sell your starter. Loving your videos. Enjoyed Mondays live
I've got a starter that I made from scratch. I've been intimidated by making bread. But this video makes it seem like I can do it!!
Very nice step-by-step lesson/tips/tricks on sourdough. 😊
Love that you share reasons for your diet while cooking for your family. I learn from you every video! You rock❤
Ah love grocery hauls
Thank you Katie for this awesome video on sourdough bread . Yes sell your starter 😍 I hope you feel better soon hugs 😊
I started my sourdough starter and used just regular gold metal all-purpose flour. Bleached, my mistake. It looks and smells good so I will try it this weekend and see what happens. I am just a plain old housewife that is new to all this. At 62yrs old I am trying to teach this old dog new tricks.
Thank you for this video!! I learned so much today
Do you have Elk recipes somewhere?
I love your videos. I had to go get that sourdough English muffin recipe. I’m gonna try to make it gluten free and see what happens. Your bread and English muffins are beautiful. Much love and blessings dear Katie.
OMG I also get bad eczema on my hands. I'll have to try keeping my hands out of water. Thanks for the tip
I love sourdough bread but it doesn’t like me. It is heavy on my stomach.
