Pork Chop Steak ala Bistek Tagalog | Ingredients and Instructions on the Description Box



Pork Bistek is a delicious take on the classic Filipino beef steak. With tender pork chops and a tangy and savory sauce, it’s sure to be a family favorite.

Ingredients
1/2 kilo pork chops
1/4 cup calamansi or lemon juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 large onion, peeled and sliced thinly
6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup water
1 pork cube
1/2 tbsp. sugar (optional)

Instructions

In a bowl, combine pork, calamansi or lemon juice, soy sauce, and pepper. Massage the marinade into the meat and marinate for about 3 hours or overnight.

Drain meat and set aside. Reserve excess liquid/marinade.

In a pan over medium-high heat, pour in 3 tablespoons of oil. Add drained pork chops and cook for about 2 to 4 minutes per side or until lightly browned. Remove meat from pan and keep warm.

On the same pan, add garlic and onion and continue stirring until softened.

Return meat to pan.

Add meat juices and reserved marinade.

Season with pepper and sugar

Add pork cube and water. Bring to a boil, cover, lower heat and simmer for about 40 to 50 minutes or until meat is fork-tender and liquid is reduced.

Add the onion rings. Lower the heat, cover and allow onion slices to cook slightly. Turn off the heat, garnish and Serve.
