மறக்க முடியாத அந்த இரவு
சுமார் 14 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு நடந்த ஒரு சம்பவம் அது. கிறுஷ்ணகுடி என்ற இடத்தில் நடந்த அந்த மறக்க முடியாத இரவு இன்று கூட என் மனதில் பதிந்து கிடக்கிறது.
அந்த இரவு உணவுக்குப் பிறகு வெறும் பொழுதுபோக்காக ரயில் பாதையில் நடந்து சென்றேன். திடீரென்று 5 யானைகள் அந்த பாதையில் நின்றிருப்பதை பார்த்தேன். அப்படியொரு எதிர்பாராத காட்சியை பார்த்து நான் ஒரு நொடிக்கு அதிர்ச்சியடைந்தாலும் உடனே என்னோட புறச்சிந்தனை வேலை செய்ய தொடங்கியது. காரணம், சில நிமிடங்களில் அந்த வழியாக பாஸஞ்சர் ரயில் வரவிருக்கிறது. யானைகளையும் ரயிலில் பயணம் செய்யும் பயணிகளையும் நினைத்ததும் எனக்கு மிகவும் கவலை ஏற்படுத்தியது.
நான் உடனே எதுவும் யோசிக்காமல் உடலில் இருந்த சிவப்பு டி-ஷர்ட் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு கையில் இருந்த டார்சுடன் சேர்த்து அதை ஒரு சிவப்பு சிக்னல் போல உருவாக்கினேன். ரயில் வரும் திசைக்கு ஓடிப் போய் ரயிலை நிறுத்தி விட்டேன். அதன் பிறகு அந்த 5 யானைகளையும் ரயில் பாதையிலிருந்து தள்ளி மாற்றினேன்.
யானைகளை தள்ளி மாற்ற சற்றே கஷ்டப்பட்டாலும், பெரிய விபத்தை தவிர்த்தது குறித்த மனநிம்மதத்துடன் நான் என் அறைக்குச் சென்றுவிட்டேன்.
அடுத்த நாள் காலை, தெற்கு ரயில்வே அதிகாரிகளிடம் இருந்து ஒரு அழைப்பு வந்தது. அவர்கள் எனது துணிச்சலுக்காக நன்றி தெரிவித்தனர்.
