I’ve made a ton of prime rib’s over the years, but this smoked prime rib is the best I’ve ever made hands down! I used the Pit Boss with Hickory pellets in the Pit Boss pellet grill and I couldn’t be happier with the results! I was skeptical at first but my brother John owns one and he LOVES it and now I can say the same. This grill and smoker is so universal I’m at a loss for words. I’m very happy with this.!
We love hickory, so we bought hickory pellets and gave this prime rib about a 3 hour smoke before turning up the heat to sear it. The total cook time was about 7 hours. Low and Slow is the Key to a great Prime Rib! The hickory pellets gave the prime rib a great flavor and I was sure happy with the results!

Just discovered your channel, I love it.
You keep everything simple and to the point.
When putting my Austin xl together I got stuck with something, the manual was too vague. I found your video and just followed that!
Today I'm doing Prime Rib for the first time and following your lead.
Take care, all the best
What did you mean by “turn the temperature back down and finish off”, back to 225f and for how long?
Rocking the shun. Good job man looks fantastic
THIS is just 100% awesomeness!
Just pop it between 2 slices of bread and I'll be happy. Can you do some more recipes on the Pit Boss. I like you instructive step by step guides. Love to see a traditional American rib recipe.
How long did you sear on high?
Short and to the point. Great video, man. Thanks!
Should have seasoned it before you tied the bones back on to season the bottom of the roast…
Nice video, thanks, How is the Pit Boss working out? I know lots of BBQ'ers that go pellet and they get spoiled.
My favorite cut of meat…
Great video…
Thank you for doing and sharing this video.
No offense but you got a fatty piece of prime rib.
Is that a Shun knife? If so, good choice! Oh, and wrap the heat shield in foil. Makes cleanup a lot easier.
Wow that looked incredible!! 🙌
Wow that looks delicious. You didn’t waste any time starting the cooking process 😀
