Ingredients:
– 1.5 skinless pork belly
– 3 tbsp rock sugar
– 1/4 cup soy sauce
– 1/8 cup dark soy sauce
– 1/3 cup rice cooking wine
– 2 star anise pods
– Water for braising
– Cilantro for garnishing
Recipe:
1. Cut the pork belly into 1/2-1 inch chunks.
2. Add the pieces to a hot wok, continuously stirring until the fat is rendered. Remove any excess fat leaving some left in the wok.
3. Add rock sugar, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice cooking wine, & star anise. Stir until well combined.
4. Add enough water to cover the top of the pork & reduce the heat to low. Braise for 30-45 min or until the sauce is reduced & thickened.
5. Add cilantro for garnishing.
