Salted Caramel Apple Pie is the Ultimate Fall Dessert | America’s Test Kitchen
Erin McMurrer shows Bridget Lancaster how to create this festive pie that brings together apples and flavorful salted caramel, by starting with a butter paste that “waterproofs” the pie crust. The warm crust is then filled with a luscious caramel custard enhanced by an unexpected ingredient: miso paste. Garnished with apple slice rosettes and flaked sea salt, this pie is sure to be a showstopper.

WOW 😮. Awesome pie… Award winning I'm sure, but too complicated and time consuming for me because I'll have eaten that pie in a day. Yummy though 😊
I never knew this much effort could go into a pie crust.
I love Erin, but this is one of the dumbest recipes I've seen you do. No one is going to want to eat the apples that way, all they're going to do is fall off the pie. And there's way too much caramel in proportion to the apples. Half the video was devoted to making the pie crust that you've already demonstrated in tons of videos. ATK is really going downhill fast.
Love you guys but do we really need to complicate the pie crust recipe 🤦♀️🤦♀️💕
Immediate thansksgiving menu item this year
Ugh. Lost me at the miso. In Apple pie? Never.
WHAT!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
In the thumbnail it looks like a pumpkin pie with topped with apple rosettes..
Put the decorative apples on the sliced pieces instead of on the whole unsliced pie.
I will try making this but I think I will add apple chunks into the caramel when bake.
All of the ATK staff are hands down amazing, but I just have to be honest. This pie is butt ugly. I'm sure it's delicious, but…man, that is not one I would put on the table.
I like this video, thank you, like like like
I juust need someone to make this for me, while I watch football games during the day. And then I'll have a piece after dinner, while I start binging Over the Garden Wall. Not my wife because she's been working all week. I should've been rich enough for a personal chef. 😂
I can't imagine that beautiful crust surviving 3 oven passes at 350 degrees. Nope. This is more complicated than necessary but I found the miso addition interesting.
In the absence of miso, I assume one could use brown sugar instead of white?
When you introduced that pie dough recipe a few years ago, I immediately fell in love with it. Crusts made with this method always come out flaky and crispy.
This woman is absolutely OFF THE CHARTS. Her attention to detail is something rarely seen. So amazing to watch. Can’t even imagine how much this pie would cost in a bakery.
They do this stupid pie crust technique all the time and the hosts always act shocked, yet the hosts have made this exact dough before. So stupid. And you all believe this.
I think Bridget likes it 🥰 almost speechless 😄 back to the pie now…
I love this 🥰 you put as much effort into the crust as in the filling. The crust is always my favorite part of any pie. Yum!!
The caramel temperature 369° (nice)
Very nice presentation! I'm saving this one 🙂
WAY too much work. Strictly a VERY special event dessert.
Iam so early yay
Yummy! I’m getting apples, tons of apples from a local orchard and I really like this recipe, sounds delicious. 🤤
